Since I have absolutely nothing to do but worry at breakfast about where I am eating lunch, I am making a mission of this Lemon thing. It seems that the correct name, for what is available in Cancun, that most resembles what we Gringos would call a Lemon, is Lima Acida or Limas Acidas for more than one of these babes. These are far different than Limas Dulces so ask twice when you buy them to make sure you get Acidas. I am told by my favorite lady that they are available in Walmart and Soriana for sure. But I took a trip today to Market 23 and found them. $40 Mxn per 1 kg. that ssems a little high for Market 23 as nice tomatoes are like $20 Mxn per kg. They look quite like lemons but the skin has more of a rougher texture, and not bright yellow, but still yellow, or mostly yellow anyway. So I purchased a couple, brought them home, cut one in half and squeezed some juice into a spoon. Boy, did I pucker up today. For my money, these are lemons. I sauteed up some shrimp to put on a salad and squeezed one of these babes onto the salad. Yummy. Seedless for the most part too. On the other hand, I have grown quite fond of Limons now and will not be making a special trip out for Limas. So Chicago Tom, there may just be a Lemon God in Cancun. But you may end up doing as the Romans do, and find yourself buying Limones soon. Provecho, T.J.
Muchas Gracias TJ TJ We owe you quite a few lemonades for your trouble. ( if you prefer beer.... that's ok! ) Take one of these..... Add one of these............. and you get this ( a lemonhead pucker )
So glad you found them. I had contacted one of the mail order lemon companies and they did not ship to Mexico.
