The big tourist ferry that is 10 minutes away ($19 return) isn't that bumpy, and only takes about 20 minutes to get to Isla Mujeres. From there, it's about 25 minutes slow walk along some really nice island streets to Playa Norte which is breathtakingly beautiful! I'll find a pic and post it here. There's a nice Canadian Sports Bar on the main street that you can get food and a bucket of Corona pretty cheap too. I'd be up for a day trip if you want to go as a group? There are other public beaches with the 'blue water' along the hotel strip in Cancun, but they're a bit further away and not sure where you'd need to stop on the bus to get to them. *Edit* photos below Playa Norte. There's a beach bar right next to this part you can chill at, out of the sun if it's too much. From the other side - they've created a bit of breakwater here meaning you can swim out without getting hit by crashing waves. This is a bit further along nearer to the ferry dock. You could swim out 1/2 a mile and still only be up to your waist in this water! Glad the camera steamed up and blurred out my big ass shape on this one! View from Jack's Bar and Grill where we ate. It's on the main road, fun to watch people going by.
There is a walkway by CocoBongo's that leads out to a larger public beach. Also toward the south end of the hotel zone there is a large parking area that the busses stop at. It is another good access to the beach. All areas along that side of the island will encounter more ocean type waves as well.

20 days to wait for us and we won't get in until late on the 24th. I really need a vacation. Looking forward to a fun week with a bunch of new friends.
We get in late on the 25th and will be headed straight to Patyo's. Can't wait to meet everyone! If we don't see you there, hopefully some of you will be on the Boobs Cruise the next day. 3 weeks can't go by quick enough!!!
