Only just read this thread. If it's true, this really sucks! The reason I keep going back to TTR is the amazing mix of people, couples/singles/in-betweens! If I wanted a couples only resort, I could easily find one a lot cheaper and/or closer to home. I've met some lovely singles on both trips, and it wouldn't be the same without them. BTW, you can guarantee if they ban all single males then logically your average single female group will vacation elsewhere too - nobody wants to be a gooseberry regardless of gender! Are there any other adult-only hotels in Cancun that aren't couples only?
We just got back from Cancun and had the experience of a large young group of men who were completely out of control and were ruining the games by the pool nearly electrocuted one of them by nearly falling in the pool hold the mic during a game, splashing and swearing at Sara69 while she was on the mic. Sara69 was really upset afterwards and said she had never felt threatened before in all her time being an entertainment rep by a group of men till this group and didnt do the next game becuase of them. Its these large groups that cause the problems and have couples screaming for a singles ban. We shared rooms with them near the quiet pool and shared the noise along the corridors of the shouting door banging evening and night we used the noisy aircon on full to try and drown them out. It is a shame becuase have met some great single people there. But these groups change the vibe of the whole place and wouldnt let my wife go to the bathroom on her own when thery were around and she worried about wearing some of her theme outfits as well thats not the way we want to be when we are there its always been a place where we feel relaxed and able to have fun without worrying.
There are MANY resorts that are adult only that are not couples only. However, they do not have an atmosphere like TTR.
Thats just out of control. I heard there was a group the week before us that caused chaos too. Did damage to the rooms, doors, etc. Rowdy bunch. They give the great singles a bad name.. Not that there aren't a few people in couples that don't suck.. Ahem- touch without consent, and other sexy atmosphere faux pas.. But the bachelor party/ wolf pack does give the resort an anxious feel. To make the staff and others feel unsafe is unacceptable. As a single I would hate to think I would be unwelcome at one of my favorite places. That would suck. But possibly discouraging the wolf packs would be nice.
I just received my travel voucher today from alpha rooms for our upcoming trip.. The voucher says "Temptations is a couples only resort" also I noticed that the official Temptations website no longer has the word "singles" it just says adults and couples. I hope the atmosphere does not change. We like it with a mix of people.
We have enjoyed a mix too for the most part, but we think a change is due! Waaaaaaaay too many horror stories to continue the way it's been!
I just tested the water with this company and went as far as getting confirmation 1 room 1 person over Christmas with no problem. I backed out before having to present a credit card. Their single rates are about 80% of the price for 2 though...Tested both USD and GBP both worked OK
I actually talked to Faye at Alpharooms this morning and she does not show, nor has she heard anything about couples only...she even called the resort and called me back to say that I was good to go, woo hoo!!!
I just heard back from the Premier folks and here's what they had to say: Dear Mr. Pottruff I am glad you had a wonderful time =) In regards to your question, we are aware that Temptation in no longer being advertised for singles for now, but it is not changing its concept. And this of course has not changed your member benefits =) So basically they are just de-emphasising the fact that singles are still welcome. This way the large groups don't see TTR as an option. It's a relief for me lol!
