im 100% leaving my phone at home this year,i went to magaluf last year and came home with a nice £450 ($900)phone bill, damn them drunken phone calls.haha
haha deffinatly leave it at home Mexico is zone 5 and much more expensive than Spain so you would havbe a huge bill
Yup thats definitely a smart move. You get a mexican number and when you are done just throw away the SIM and put your native one back in.
The problem with a phone card is you will still need to find a phone to make the phone call. If you use your cell you will be charged roaming. A pay phone will require you deposit change to use the phone card. Hotel will charge you for making calls. The best way to go is to use your own mobile that is "unlocked" and put in a sim card you can purchase at any grocery store. Its basically a charged up phone card that you can use and add more minutes to, but you use it with your mobile phone.
Verizon works good , although I did run up a huge bill , but I made a ton of calls. You can now text message in CUN with Verizon and you can text mexican cells dial 01152199 (cell #) . You can call the US also , just dial 001 then area code
