Can't remember if cell phones worked down there............... We have verizon..............any help would be appreaciated!! Thanks!
We have verizon as well. What we do is call them before we leave to add Cancun in the plan for a week.. Was not bad. Cheaper than the resorts phone
Don't know if you can use a Telcel SIM card in your Verizon phone, but I used one in my Cingular phone (bought on eBay) and it worked perfectly (& cheap minutes). EDIT: Just looked and same seller is selling same SIM cards - and phones if you need a different phone (auction # is 280073458520, or just search for "Mexico phone" or "Telcel").
I use Verizon also and the phone worked fine for both incoming and ourgoing calls. There wasn't even any extra charges for the Mexico calls. Unlike Canada where you have to sign over your first born to talk on a cell phone if you have Verizon.

It's CancunValet www.cancunvalet.com I have rented from them many times (40+ times)with never a single problem. The only reason I don't anymore is because I have my own Cancun phone now.
I love Gray from Cancun Valet- he was awesome to deal with - and the whole process was absolutely simple and perfect- I'm using him again this year when I go - definately use that if you don;t bring your own, and/or if your own is not functionable!!
Go figure. We wouldn't have guessed that one.lol. Just kidding We have also used them several times. The first time 2 years ago, wasn't the best experience, but ever since i haven't had a single complant and plan on using them again for April. That reminds me, I need to send them an email. :lol:
Greg and Mary, I do advise you take your cell phone or get one while down there. I had what I thought was a great plan last time I was down there (Thanksgiving) to buy International calling cards. The hotel still wanted to charge me $5.00 US per phone call just to use my calling card from my room. So I had to walk across the street to use it. I ended up using my friend's phone from Verizon...she had called right before we left and added Mexico to her calling plan only for the time we were down there. Hey..you live and learn. Anyone wanna buy some calling cards to Mexico? lol I still have three left from my trip totalling $30.00 US. :?
