I'm wondering the same thing, particularly for CDMA as I have a globalstar1600 satalite trimode that uses CDMA for its cellular portion. Also looking into the sat rates in Mexico, I'm guessing they are standard. None the less the major two that I have seen a lot of is telcel and movistar. Telcel also if I remember correctly has a lot of payphones. Movistar has ads everywhere. I have found this website: http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp I also wanted to pick up that chinese phone panxing or something like that that has GSM and UHF/VHF modes. This is what I found on the link above for CDMA Mexico IUSACELL IS-95A Mobile, 800, 1900 MHz Commercial Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel Click here to view coverage. Mexico IUSACELL 1xEV-DO Rev. Telcel is a virtual monopoly and forget ever getting a credit or refund for anything. That said, I have used it for years. I have friends who use IUSACel and others who use and have quit using Nextel. Also Movistar has a presence. I am just guessing but I would think that Telcel, aka Tel-Hell has at least a 90% share of the market here. Would you agree Steve?
I dont think I know anyone who doesnt use Telcel. But TJ knows everyone and I dont I do remember the trend for those horrible walkie talkie type phones from about 5 years ago, they were not Telcel... maybe Nextel? Thankfully that trend seems to have passed the same way as the VCR.
