for day to day purchase, we bought MX pesos so we only have exchange 1 time; buying US $ you may experience change i MX pesos at a heftily discounted rate. For things that are substantial, like an excursion that charges in US with a US$ merchant ID or something like that, we will likely pay in US$ with a US$ credit card or have a couple hundred available for that. Perhaps we need a standard currency for North America? NA Dollars perhaps?
So, where is the best place to exchange ? and, whats a decent tip for -bartenders. Typically, ive dropped a 20 us every couple of days - maids..10 every cpl of days -restaurant usually 5/meal. is it enough? problem is, i walways seem to runout of tip money before i run out of vacation, lol
Use ATM at airport or bank. As far as tipping goes, all depends on your kindness and how much you can afford, there is no certain rule. Looking at your numbers seems you are very kind when tip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
scottnpam, we just went in to our bank here (TD) and they took $400 CAD from our chequing account and called us a day or two later to let us know our MXN Peso's were in. I will do it this way, everytime. I only took USD for the Boobs Cruise admission. Tipped everyone with pesos.
This was back in February but it was a little over $12 peso to $1 CAD....for $400 CAD we got almost 5000 pesos
TD told me that they couldn't specify what we got however I learned that other banks allegedly can....the largest bill we got was 200 pesos. I would go into the store/front desk/ask a waiter/bartender if they could change them daily. It didn't take long to get them into 20's and 50's.
As of today, just checked with my bank and for 1$ CAD I get 11.21 MXN pesos... Now I am all confused as to where I'll get the money... Airport, Cancun, my bank arghhhh
