Cabo has an outdoor bar, Melange Bar. but in our opinion it nothing like Paty'O's. There was a live band there on night during our week, but other than that the DJ is OK, they did play SNL clips on a few nights. The Disco was only open one night during our week, it's an indoor dancing bar, great DJ and an awesome night, but when the DJ is over (about 1am) the party is over and everyone heads to bed. Not too much into the wee hours. I think it was to do alot with the size of the resort, because it's smaller there are less people to stay up later...if that makes sense.

    agreed much smaller

but we found that people stayed up late partying on a number of occasions.........could ahve just been our great group

as we all know cancun would be nothing without the great people

one night at about 1 or 2 after they shut down in the disco a large number of just carried the party up to the hot tub til 5 a.m.

different in cabo for sure - its like some nights t and i went to bed early and other night we were up til 2 in the morning or 5 - did not feel any pressure to stay up or to go to bed --------its like it just happend and the party happened

nothing was really planned - but again much like the group i go with to cancun in may - you make your own party

I stumbled upon this thread and thought I would chime in with my perspective. I just returned from my 5th trip to Cancun a few days ago. I opted to got to Cabo Temptation last May for a change of pace from Cun and to spend some time Marlin fishing.

I arrived a few days after a Desire take over. The atmosphere was very sexually charged as there were several couples left over from the previous week that were trying to hookup with the newbies or those they hadn't partyied with earlier. I am no longer into that scene and it was amusing to me to see the desperation shown by some couples who were still looking for play before the went back to the real world.

As the leftovers from Desire week left, we found several fun couples to hang out with. The place had the feel of Cancun on a much smaller scale. It was obvious that Chinos had trained his replacement there, but the guy running the cast seemed like a cheap imitation of the real thing. The pool games were fun.... just not as fun as I had hoped for.

We found ourselves looking for sonmething else to do besides hanging out at the pool everyday. So we rented a jeep and headed into town. There isn't much to do in the vicinity except a little shopping. Temptation Cabo is located in San Jose del Cabo about 30 miles from Cabo San Lucas. We spent 4 of our 8 days in Cabo just to find some fun. Way too far to drive, especially after drinking all day at the Office (The Office is a hella cool beach bar in Cabo)

I love the area, the fishing is fantastic. The scuba diving is ok. (Not as good as Cancun) The night life is every bit as good as Cancun, but the resort offers no sponsorship or transportation to the clubs. The food choices are limited due to the size of the resort. The hot tub party was a blast one night, but after the Desire takeover folks left, there weren't many people in it in the evening. In fact most nights we were the only ones there after 11pm. The evening entertainment was a letdown for me. The Melange bar was fun and very reminicent of Patio's. The people were great.

All in all, next time I go to Cabo, I won't stay at Temptation. It is simply too far from the fun that is Cabo San Lucas.

This idea makes no sense... with a real Desire resort 30 minutes away from Temptation, why would the owners chase off their non-playing customers with a takeover.

The concept works in Cabo because the resort once was Desire. There is a built in customer base. The properties adjacent to the resort used to be vacant lots when it was Desire. Since it became a Temptation, a hotel was built that looks directly into the Hot tub. A screen was erected to limit the view, but prying eyes can still see the going ons there.

A Desire resort has to be discreet and semi remote. There are simply too many resorts in the area to host a takeover at Temptation Cancun.

    Just my observation....

I understand where you're coming from; but I do think, as mentioned by others in this forum, that alot depends on the people that are there at the same time.

I know for me personally if I had not connected with someone from this site prior to my trip to TTR Cancun, my experience would not have been nearly as positive. We were only there for 4 nights & without having that connection in place I probably would have warmed up to the vibe of the place about the same time we were heading home! Making plans to meet Jim & Lisa for dinner our first night there made a huge difference in our entire trip!

I think timing is crucial; we're planning to go in November with a great group of cancuncare people. I understand that Cabo may not be quite the same party scene, but I think it will be be what we make it. I'm sure we'll have a great time...how could we not with beautiful scenery, the promise of lifetime friendships, and music by Brewster!

Thanks everyone again for the input. Everyones opinion is very much appreciated. We can only travel once per year and we would hate to take a chance and end up feeling disappointed. We are repeaters at TTR Cancun because we KNOW going in that we are going to have a great time. And again, it was because of all the awesome people that we met on here prior to our travels.
