Found out that you have to be 21 to check into the Omni. Guess that counts us out

Where did you see that? All the sites I see says 18.

    http://resorts.affordabletours.com/search/Property/resorts/688/
    http://cancunluxuryhotels.com/omni_cancun_hotel/omni_cancun_hotelvillas.htm
    http://www.4discounttravel.com/hotels/cun-omnivillas.html

When you go through the booking steps on expedia, under rules, it says 18 as well. I can't find any information on omni's own site. I really don't think they care. Worst case, you can always just get someone 21+ to check in for you. It's a normal hotel, they are not as anal (requiring wristband, insurance, etc) as spring break hotels.

I saw it on the onmi website under FAQ.

This is what it says exactly:
What age must I be to check into an Omni Hotels property?
The person whose name is on the reservation must be at least 21 years of age to check into an Omni Hotel property. Photo Identification is required upon check-in. Any person who has made a reservation, is staying alone and is not at least 21 years of age will not be allowed to check-in

I contacted them and asked if that was the stipulation for the resort in Cancun. I am just waiting to hear back. Here is the link if you want to look yourself.

Hmm...I guess I didn't look thoroughly on their site. I wonder if that's enforced at all. I've stayed at Omni Cancun, LA, San Diego, Austin, New Heaven, Boston, etc and they never checked my age. But maybe that's because I'm an old old man. Dunno. Like I said, you can always just find someone who is 21+ to check in with you to bypass that stupid requirement. Most of the regulars here are 21+. I'll be staying at Omni. Chad will probably be staying at the Omni too (or simply just crashing with me). Most of other regulars will be staying next door at Oasis.

That may be an option. We are trying to figure out what is a better option: staying somewhere awesome like the Omni or staying somewhere less expensive like NH Krystal and then just having more spending money. What do you think?

I have never stayed at NH Krystal (Fletch has) but it looks pretty nice from the outside. Base on the reviews on tripadvisor.com, it doesn't seen too bad at all. Not as nice as Omni but definitely still way nicer than Oasis.

I don't think it's that much cheaper than Omni when it's on sale. Maybe normally when Omni is $200/night now it's just slightly cheaper. But if that small amount really makes a difference to you, I don't think it's that bad of an idea to stay at NH Krystal (unless Fletch has anything negative to add). It's really close to the clubs so easy to get home at night.

It's a little far from Oasis though (15 min bus ride each way). I stayed at Hyatt last year which is next to NH Krystal. But since all my friends were at Oasis, I end up taking at least 1 trip per day to Oasis (to hang out during the day). And sometimes when we booked a club reservation with transportation, I end up making a second trip to Oasis. It just got too time consuming so I decided to go back to staying at Omni for the next trip. You probably won't have to worry about that so NH Krystal should be fine for you.

I recommend the Omni route and just do day passes to Oasis. Considering it's walking distance. But then, NH Krystal is walking distance of the club zone. So take your pick. Henry or myself will have no problem checking you in. That is, if I'm there when you check in.

Thats the problem. I would be concerned that if we get there around 4pm no one will be around to check us in. I dont want to inconvenience anyone so I think we will have to stay elsewhere.

Has anyone heard anything good about the ME?

What will happen if you book the room, show up and they say you can't stay there? I just have doubts that resorts other than Oasis will check an id to make sure you're not young enough to be partying, as if age matters. I've never had my id checked going anywhere. Sultan Elite Henry should know the answer to this, he's also stayed at ME before. As far as inconveniencing anyone, just stay on the forum until March, we're the type that we leave no one behind. So it's not as if we'll forget about it. We're mostly all responsible, especially Henry and myself.
