Billy and I have been to Cancun several time, we usually stay close to the hotel and take a day trip to Isla M. This trip we would like to go visit Playa. What is the bus fare and what should we see in Playa. I have heard of 5th avenue don't know what it is and is there a Riu close by? Sorry for all the questions..just trying to get it all into 1 post. Personally, I would rent a car. It is a straight shot; easy driving. 5th ave is the "main drag" shops, restaraunts, great people watching. There are 3--I think; RIU's in Playa/Playacar. RIU Tequilla, not on the beach RIU Playacar RIU Palace All very nice. Nice bars on the beach; blue parrot etc.
Last time I heard the bus fare was around $35 pesos one way, it might have gone up since then but it wont be much more than that. As mentioned 5th avenue is the main drag. It's one block back from, and parallel to the beach and runs for a mile or more. Full of restaurants and shops. Unlike Cancun you'll also find many bars / restaurants on the beach itself.
