Hahaha......... "new movie - coming soon to a theatre near you....."Jaws 4: Mule-Weapon of the Cartel"
And my winner thus far for timely (hopefully good) news on the woman that was attacked while at the same time firing cheap anti Mexico salvos from the Canadian side comes via the victim's, potential, hometown newspaper the Orangeville Citizen.... Orangeville nurse victim of shark attack in Mexico | www.citizen.on.ca | Orangeville Citizen
The Orangeville Citizen writer's hook is that both victims are from the same area and were vacationing in Mexico... So, of course, the events must be coupled together, despite occurring eight months apart, occurring over a thousand miles apart in destination and as previously stated totally unrelated... Unless, Mack the Knife was the triggerfish in the Mexican-US border mountain slaying. :banghead:
Um, but there are THREE? And they're still hanging around? (rethinks today's swim workout) (the comments are the best part of the article) http://www.sipse.com/noticias/87020-reportan-fuera-peligro-turista-atacada-tiburon.html
My favorite comment is "In Cancun, you're more likely to get a mordida from a transito than from a shark"
And they saw a whale shark in front of the Ritz? Now that's weird.... An article I read this morning said it's the first attack in the hotel zone in 200 years (according to the national park representative). Chances of it happening again are one in a million.
As of right now, as per the International Shark Attack File linked off the Florida Museum of Natural History, "Confirmed Unprovoked Shark Attacks" prior to this latest incident was four (4) for the Mexican State of Quintana Roo, not necessarily Cancun, all fatalities, the last occurring in 1997, presumably covering a time period of 1880 to 2010. …ufl.edu/fish/…mapMiddle.htm Also, as previously stated, the publicized news reports of an attack in 2008 were later attributed to my knowledge to a intoxicated swimmer whose death was later identified as a drowning and the body was later mutilated at sea by marine life including sharks before being recovered some days later. Now, I don't presume to be an expert on Cancun shark attacks or can I verify that there hasn't been other attacks, in a 130 year plus period, I'd wager there has been, but this is what I'm finding as of now. Given the information available, the likelihood of being attacked by a shark in Cancun is extremely minimal historically.
