starjm Glad you had a great time. Thanks for all the info on times of everything. Can't wait for your pictures. Sandy
Hurricane Dean Has anyone been to Cancun Palace since the hurricane? Was wondering how the beach made out. I heard the Beach bar is closed for a couple of weeks. Thanks Sandy
sandyjoanne, This is from the Cancun Info Forum - "How is the beach post-hurricane Dean": mixz1 Location: Cancun Hotel Zone Posted: Sun Aug 26, 2007 4:56 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The beaches in front of the Ritz-Carlton, Parnassus, Le Meridien and Cancun Palace are, for all intents and purposes, gone. The Ritz is doing some repair work, although I don't know where they're getting the sand they're trucking in. Le Meridien and Ballenas are stripped down to the foundations, just like after Wilma. Playa Ballenas is the allegedly public beach that sits between Le Meridien and the Cancun Palace.
heyyyyyy- we are going oct 11-18. meet ya at the terrace bar for a drink!! hubby likes getting Sol up there. of course they were so slow in may, they may not still have it open. everything gets quiet in oct. as for the beach, i found pics on the "other" site that are tough, but i'm ok with it. sun palace review also went to cp and took some pics. better than the ones posted at JW the day after dean.
Hey LisaTen! We'll have a cocktail at the bar, that's for sure!!! I am going down for the Palace Resort's golf tournament. I can't wait!!! Me and a bunch of golf buddies are going down for the week. It should be a blur. lol DaveT
hmmm. too bad we're crossing paths, DaveT. i play when we go because we would lose the free rounds if i didn't. but it's wasted on my lack of talent. I'd be happy to let someone play with hubby in my place. good luck to you! the jungle course is our favorite but i guess you won't get to choose. be careful of that beverage cart, too. since it's all free, its easy to get carried away. and if you've played there before you probably know -- bring lots and lots of balls. they are $15/3 and you do not want to go into that jungle to retrieve them! look for the really short girl (haha - old lady more like it) and the really tall guy and that's us!! 4 more weeks!
Hey LisaTen, Don't know if I understand what you mean by "too bad we're crossing paths", but I would like to have a cocktail with you while we're down there. I have never met anyone from a message board before. I agree with you, the Moon Palace courses are really tough. Gorgeous...but tough. You are also right when you say the golf balls are very expensive and the beers on the cart are very cold and tasty. Can't wait!!! Four more weeks!!!!! Actually 21 days!!!! DaveT
hi ya DAVET - i mean we arrive as tourney starts and you leave when it's done. bummer. we go thur - thurs this time to take advantage of frequent flyer miles. never done that before. anyway, hubby can't play during tourney days cause omg it's too hot to play afternoons. drinks are on us!! we'll needs lots of them if the beach is really gone!!!! we haven't met anybody from here either. i know we all exist because it's impossible to make up this stuff. see ya on october 11, 12 or 13!!!!!!!
