Cancun Palace long TR for a short stay Better late than never!!! We left for Cancun mid-may with the full intention of staying at the Playacar Palace for 7 days and then transferring to the Cancun Palace for 3. Our friends were leaving after day 7 so we figured we would ride with them to the CP so they could see it before they head to the airport (also the wives did not know about the limousine we booked as transportation). Well about 2/3 through our vacation we decided not to waste ½ a day packing and unpacking and just check out the CP for a couple hours and catch a cab back. After 7 days at the Playacar it was time for our friends to leave… We all ate breakfast and wait for our friends to check-out. The surprise limo was due to stop at 10 am and they were right on time. We had reserved a town car but they sent a Lincoln navigator (very nice ride) – SURPRISE!!! We broke open the bottle of champagne to toast the end of a great vacation with our friends. Next stop was the Cancun Palace. It rained really hard on the way and there were several accidents!! We enjoyed our champagne and the smooth ride. Once we got to the CP we were amazed at how different it was. The trees between the BLVD and the lagoon were still not back and all of the landscaping was GONE!!!! We did not see any construction really, just shocked at the difference. We went inside and were amazed by the lobby, check-in, etc. We asked for a tour of the Presidential Suite (for next year maybe) and they took us right up. It was amazing, a balcony from ocean to lagoon view. A really nice suite!! We went down to the pool area to take a few pictures with our friends. The water is still amazing, so many shades of blue. The pool area was not very impressive, it looked more like a cruise ship, no shade and tons of chairs with plates, cups and trash scattered around. There were two bars but not much relief from the sun if you need it. We didn’t pay much attention to the pool water (cloudy, etc). Once we took a few pictures we walked our friends to the limo and said our goodbyes until next year. Well by that time the champagne had really kicked in and we decided the heck with a taxi, we want the limo to get back to Playacar. The next stop, the lobby tour area where we booked our limo back to playacar giving us a couple of hours of beach time. We walked through the hotel still amazed at the lobby and restaurant and made our way to the pool and down to the beach where we were happy to see the beach bar with the swings!!!! We were hungry and thirsty so we had a few shots of Don Julio while our food was grilling. She had fish tacos and I had beef tacos and they were great!! The bartender was really nice and we talked with him for a while. We had to change clothes, but the mens room at the beach was closed so I had to change elsewhere. It started clouding up again and rained for a few minutes. The bartender put our back pack behind the bar to keep our clothes dry. We just sat and enjoyed the view, food and drinks. The water felt wonderful, the beach not as soft as prior years but was still amazing (and much smaller). It was paradise. Well it was time to leave the CP so I stopped to break the seal in the mens room next to the behind the pool close to the building. It was HORRIBLE!!!! It stank of mold and mildew and you could see where paint was applied to cover up the mess. It was disgusting. We did not do a detailed tour of the facility, but we did not like the pool area. The suite we saw was amazing and the beach bar is a big improvement over what used to be there. We were at the old CP 7 times and one day we will come back. We may check out the Sun in September. That is our long trip report for our short stay at the CP.

Hey Guys, Been home for two days. Oh my gosh! Our vacation went much to fast. I miss the nachos. I miss the music by the pool. I miss the sun. I want to go back. Even tho I would never go back to the Cancun Palace. I would still rather be there in Mexico. One day my husband did not lock the safe. Nothing was touched. Lots of cash and our passports were in there. Brought it to the attention to the staff so we could thank the person who cleaned our room. Also Blessed him. He said his name was Baby, 20 years old. What a nice boy. Where to go next year?
June 22 - 29 Here is a quick little look at my trip to the Cancun Palace. I have many more pics of the hotel itself but my daughter took MY camera to a friends house and left it there!!! These are the pics that my mom sent me. Taylor and my mom in the limo at 3 am. We were on our way!!!!!!!!!!! This is the view from our room. We were on the 8th floor. As you can see the pool area is kinda bare. Not much of a tropical feel but a beautiful view of the ocean. Nice size balcony too. Blurry picture of the hotel at night. The theater is to the right of the fountain. This is a picture of the Steak House. We ate there one night when we weren't very hungry. I split the surf and turf with my daughter and the shrimp was very very good. The filet was small but the meal was pretty good. Taylor and Boo taking in the beautiful view. Ok, this was our night at Pericos. We walked in the door, they threw those dresses on us and took our picture. We had the most fun here. It was nice to get out of the hotel and the girls had a great time. That is me on the left. The girl with one leg.  If you have ever been to Mexico, you know what this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boo and Taylor joined the game of musical chairs and T.J. can tell you that they were NOT going to Lose!!!!! Those boys did not stand a chance. Once they got the boys out of the game, they were forced to compete against one another . This is where it got interesting!!!! Poor Boo was so sun burned that she could not (as you can see) wear a bra. She was ready to pop out of that dress at any time. She was trying to fight for that chair and keep her boobs in and Taylor was trying to keep her dress down and cover her BEhind. Now that I think about it - I bet that game was rigged!!!! Well they stopped the music and they began to fight over the chair. Boo forgot about her boobs and Taylor forgot about her BEhind and the competition was ON. Finally, they called them both winners and gave them a free Pina Colada! It was a sight. Just ask T.J. Boo having a great time!! SENOR FROGS! WE STOPPED IN THERE TOO My mom found her a cowboy in Senor Frogs. She did a lot more there but you have to wait for that story/pics. I hope you enjoyed the pictures. I will post mine as soon as I can.
Thx Thx so much for all your helpful reviews! Does anyone know where I can find a map of the CP property?
I don't seen any property layouts, but this thing is cool and informative: http://www.palaceresorts.com/ebrochures/groupscp.html
cp layout spanky - i kept the property map and scanned it but i'm guess i'm too lame to figure how to upload it here. i'll keep trying to figure it out. i'm going again in oct so we'll see if it changes

oh yes we really did like it. we have stayed at the other resorts but hubby and i decided the water there is magical so we are going again in oct. with all the others to choose from, that's where we will go. i understand the pricing now for non members makes it a costly vacation so i can see where some were disappointed for their hard earned vacation dollars. but it's everything we want in a vacation and more. it's alive yet peaceful and in the middle of it all.
Oct. Yep, I too will be going in October. I agree with you Lisaten, the water is probably the best on the hotel zone and the location of the Cancun Palace can't be beat. DaveT
