Fabulous photos, Wildcat. I called my agent few days ago asking to upgrade to the Presidential Suites on our trip June 25, but she said they were all sold out. Too bad. How was the snorkeling? Thank you for the photos. I can't wait...
Back From the Cancun Palace! Hi, the snorkeling was great. We did both the Paradise and Jungle Tour snorkeling. The Paradise snorkeling had clearer water and more fish. We saw star fish, coral, all kinds of colorful fish swimming in large groups around us. We also saw baracuda's. Let me know if there are any other questions. Thanks.
Thank you so much for those awesome pictures!!!! Everything looks so nice. What types of games/activities do they have around the pool area? Do they have a shuttle that will take you to other Palace resorts or did you have to pay for that out of your own pocket? Thanks again, EB
Hi, they had water volleyball, bingo, and the 'Crazy Game' (races in the water), at least these are the ones I saw. They provide you with a daily schedule of activities by the pool, beach, lobby and in the theater. There is always something to do and if there isn't, then just listening to the ocean under an umbrella, while sipping your favorite drink seems to work as well
Hi, I meant to tell you about transporation. There isn't free transportation to the other Palace resorts, however, we took the local bus to the Sun Palace (about 55 cents each way). To go to the Moon Palace you can take a taxi (about $25 each way). The Beach Palace is accessible by local bus, however, it will not be open until later in the summer (that is what we heard). If you plan on playing golf at the Moon Palace, then transporation is included in your greens fee.
Agree with tucsonwildcat1 We were at CP from 5/7 through 5/18. Here is a link for pictures. Hope it works.... http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/dhines1298 View the slide show. Our room was great. After some minor tinkering with the AC by the maintenance staff, everything was fine. I'm keeping the location of the room a secret, as it was different from the others in the hotel. Suffice to say, it was as if we had our own private elevator to the pool area! We got together with LiTTLEMiSSJENNA and Justin and had a good time. Ask them about the bongos! The food at each restaurant was great! Tried all of them. And ditto on the service - Fantastic! One bad experience, not Palace Resorts related. We ate at Loritto Joe's on Friday the 11th. I don't know if it was an off evening for them or what, but the lobster and shrimp was overcooked (dry) and we were not impressed. We would not recommend it. Next year we are going to Lorenzillo's. There are a number of pictures of the Palace Resorts Beach Club on Isla Mujeres (included tour). This was one of the best surprises of the trip. The last time I was there, the place was kind of a dump. The hurricane was the best thing to happen to the place. It has been completely rebuilt and it was great!. P/R is building their new hotel there and it looks like it is going to be wonderful. Not sure of the opening date, but I can't wait to see it completed. We opted for the Royal Dolphin Swim while there at Isla Mujeres. My 3rd time doing it, and still well worth the $$$$. Highly recommend the Sail/Snorkel included tour. It's about a 40 mn trip from CP to Paradise Maroma (SP?). Secluded beach area and the beach sand is what Cancun used to be before the hurricane, powdered sugar! Two of our snorkel guides spotted a lobster hiding in some corral. They tried to coax him out with their snorkels, but it would not budge. Guess he didn't want to end up on a grill! It was fun to watch. We went horseback riding, and that was great as well. Along the way, one of the guides spotted two spider monkeys in a tree and I got pictures.... Ahhhh... the locals! We also went on the Tulum trip. They stop at a gift shop type place on the way down where you can haggle for stuff and hit a restroom. Tulum was very hot. We stayed with the guide for about 45 mn, then went out on our own to take pictures. We then headed down the steep stairs to the beach and went swimming in the ocean. Fantastic! Made it back in time to catch the bus. If you go, bring at least 2 bottles of H2O each... You will need it! From there, the bus took us to Xpu-Ha Palace for lunch, snorkel, kayak and swim in the pool. All in all, not a bad deal for an INCLUDED tour! There is one picture of me, Petro and Sue at the beach bar.... Petro is the most accomodating person you will ever meet. It was fun getting to know him. He helped me with my Spanish and I helped him with his English. We have exchanged e-mails and we promised each other we will both be more proficient in each other's languange when we meet again next year. I know we went at probably the best time of the year. No spring breakers, not crowded. My boss commented on the beach pictures that "It's vacant!". He went on my membership during spring break. We had no problems finding chairs etc.. No getting up at 5:00am to put your towel down. One last thing. Go to Mecado 28. Hop the bus and haggle with the vendors! We are already planning our trip for next May. we will probably stay 3 nights at Playcar Palace and the rest at Cancun Palace. 12 nights in all. Any questions? I'm at DHINES1298@aol.com
Hi all, I'm actually posting this from our hotel room at the CP. Everything has been great, except we've been trying to get the jacuzzi going and the water is coming out brown! They've sent a maintainence guy up here 3 times, and no luck. They seem to say there's nothing else they can do for us, as it's a resort-wide issue (although I haven't heard of anyone else complaining). This is our honeymoon trip, so we are a bit disappointed...anyone have any tips for resolution?
