Hey all, I just returned yesterday from my trip to the Palace Resorts and wanted to clarify a few things. I was part of the four-person group that was supposed to stay at Cancun Palace but was unexpectedly moved to the Moon Palace. First of all, we have time share with the Palace Resorts so I've stayed at Moon Palace before and love the resort, so it wasn't a problem being moved there. For us, the bigger issue was with how they handled it. After waiting for the front desk to sort out the situation, they informed us that our reservations were at Moon Palace and not at Cancun Palace. It came across like we just showed up at the wrong hotel and it was our fault. When we tried to inquire why the reservation was changed, who changed it and why we weren't informed prior to arriving, little to no info was given. It wasn't until we talked to Moon Palace reps that they informed us that Cancun Palace didn't have enough rooms available to accomodate us. So really, that was the big issue. Being moved is one thing, but for ther hotel to not accept responsibility and just pretend like it was our fault is the bigger issue. I'm sure we weren't the first group that had to be relocated to Moon Palace, so I wish they would've handled it better. As far as the hotel goes, we were only in it for about 30 minutes, but it was definitely not completed. There are workers with wheelbarrels and other equipment working outside on the drive up. Inside, there's electric saws going off and several people painting just to the left of the check-in area. Besides that, they didnt seem to be working on any other parts. The middle part of the pool was blocked off with yellow caution tape, and no one seemed to be in that part of the pool. Although there was this visible construction, it seemed that they were close to being completed. This is just the main lobby and outside areas, so I don't know how close some of the rooms are. But for those traveling there in April/May, I'd expect the hotel to be 100% then. In general, the lobby and lobby bar area did not seem to be too crowded. I've been to every Palace hotel prior to the hurricane, and I don't remember it feeling so barren, but that must just be a result of the hotel not being 100% open. I hope this helps some people.
i was just reviewing pictures of cp again.. and it always looks shady... is the sun often blocked because of the way the hotel is built? or does it just get blocked at a certain time?? when does the sun go away?? helpp im freaking out im such a sun queen..l0l
Sun queen: No problem with sun at Cancun Palace. I'm afraid because of the fact there are no palm trees planted right now that there will be too much sun. The sun does not go down till late afternoon when it gets in front of the hotel and the building blocks it a little then. Other than that, you are in the sun all day long there! 37 days till CANCUN!!!!
All the information on the web site says that is it now air conditioned! That will be nice but, those breezes coming through at night were nice too. Can't wait to see it!!!!!!!
yeah i wouldnt have minded either way if it was air conditioned or not... as long as its beautiful!! =) and im glad its at full capacityy! ((hopefully))
I've read that because there are not alot of people staying there that it is a little slow. But as more people start staying there I imagine that it will start hopping again. I wonder if Aaron, the entertainment guy is still working there. He's a cutie, does great Latino dances and all the young and old ladies get in a lather, myself included! I'd like for him to be my cabana boy at home but my husband does NOT agree! 35 days till Cancun!!!! :claphappy:
