What I want to know is WHICH hotel tried to kick her out? This woman is a walking legend. Excuse me while I get mad at how ignorant and small-minded people can be.

I would be angry too and outraged IF the reporting had been done by anyone other than David Romero who is known for be sensationalistic at the expense of the truth. I will investigate and see what I can find out and which hotel it was.
(Hey, RG: any requests? Am close to the store? Again.)

Seems it really did happen. Checked with a friend of a friend who works with David Romero. ¡Qué vergüenza!

Coral Beach has always been known for that they tried to kick out my SIL about 10 years ago that was meeting a friend staying there. MY SIL is Mexican but has lived in Houston fo almost 30 years we joke that she thinks she is "reconquistando" when she comes (Snob) anyway she was escorted out of the hotel said she was made to feel like a prostitute.

I have a rumour that the story was sensationalized and may not be as true as originally believed. More later.

Very interesting...I remember hearing a story eight years ago about Menchu being asked to leave the beach in front of Ritz property by security.

I'd guess I first heard this in 1999 or 2000...an awfully big coincidence!

As suspected, it was all an invention of a publicity hungry local radio jockey! I thought is was a bit strange that nothing about the incident appeared on his own website.

Of course, it got all over the international news and gave a black eye to both Cancun and the Coral Beach!!

Coral Beach put out a press release yesterday and David Romero apologized on his radio program today about the "confusion" about what happened.
