I most certainly will post if I dont get reimbursed, I'll also post if I do. I submitted my report and reminded them that a dollar check via post will not work due to postal system and banks, they replied with a conversion from pesos to dollars and asked me to agree the rate. The company pay out on the 25th and have my paypal details. I'll be sure to post when the time comes for payment. I was also offered another assignment, this was to go into a music store and ask questions about some hifi systems for a $25 payment. The stores although in Mexico were not in Cancun so I turned it down.
I too was offered the music store one but it didn't seem to be in the Cancun area. I don't undertand what the problem is, you pay to be a rated shopper ie you get first come first served and you get your restaurant bill refunded. Or you don't spend a peso, get chosen to do it, whenever - and still get refunded. Sounds fine to me
I used to work as a mysterious shopper, for a marketing company in Cancun. They gave me beforehand the money to buy... what I needed to buy (took the merchandise back after the job, except food  ), paid me for the job (I could spend up to 3 hours to do it + briefing + report), and paid for gas or transportation. After all it is a real job, useful for the stores. Their purpose is to increase the quality. However I registered with them (without paying) too for when I get back to Cancun, but I sent an email to Jon that came back to me as undeliverable (domain name not found). We will see with your experience.
Not always true. I know of a few jobs where you have to pay to work. Mostly in the service industry and adult entertainment industry, but I would guess there's specific examples in other industries where the same is true. Not Cancun related, but just to prove my point: There's a few clubs in my area that sell shifts to the wait staff. If someone wants to work specific shifts, they have to pay up front for them.
There was a typo in the first mention of the email address for Jon. Cancun shoppers need not pay the fee, which by mystery shopping firms standards ist small. I did this in the US before moving here, while caring for my sick mother. I found it fun and actually lucrative. Example, Jiffy Lube Oil change, reimbursed, and $25 for the report on a day I could also do a big store, BJs wholesale club or a bank for similar...It is good work if you can get it here!
Just to note I did get reimbursed satisfactorily for this. Certainly, it's not something to make a career out of but for occasional free meals etc it's worthwhile.
