The experts are now saying that it could be that as many as 50% of people with the virus are asymptomatic.

Yes, my wife has covid 19 but they would not test her as she has mild to moderate symptoms. They only test severe or first responders as there are not enough test units available for everyone.

Curious...if she has not been tested, than how do you or she know that she actually has COVID-19?

Not a smart ass comment but seriously would like to know.

So @Steve how is daily life? I'm guessing streets are quieter. Are there cars and pedestrians out and about? Are buses still running? Are local restaurants opened for take out/delivery?

Are the locals able to apply for unemployment? How are grocery shelves looking? Do have limited supplies of bottled water and or toilet paper like some of us have in the US?

I was wondering the same thing.

I've no idea if i"d test positive for the viral infection, but I can absolutely damn sure tell you I'm positive for Allergies-2020! Sheesh!

Not even trying to be funny, either. I can't recall a spring seasont this bad for pollen. My face feels swollen shut. It's not of course, but it sure feels that way. Ugh.

I've worked at home for 16 years, so for me it's not too different to usual. I was socially isolating before it became trendy :)

I miss my morning trip to Starbucks, the Boobs Cruises and need a haircut but other than that it's fine. We have a good-sized house, garden and pool, so it's not like we are cooped up in a small apartment.

Roads are definitely quieter, and less foot traffic where we are. People still walking dogs, jogging etc. In the poorer areas, it's also quieter so I am told, but then you'll see the usual posts of people gathering at markets etc and ignoring advice.

Buses still run but at a reduced frequency, the combis (minibuses) have a limit of 8 per vehicle when they usually have 28 per vehicle. Police have roadblocks or checkpoints in place on main roads.

Bars, clubs, cinemas and casinos have been closed for 3 weeks. Kids have been off school for 3 weeks too. Beaches, ecoparks, ruins and attractions are closed Most restaurants have closed completely, but some are doing take out or delivery only.

No shortages in the shops, apart from perhaps hand sanitizer, plenty of toilet paper and food. We still have water, gas, Amazon deliveries, daily trash collection.

There's no unemployment support from the Govt for those out of work, but employers have a responsibility for those that are recently laid off. The Govt, via the Military, is providing free food and essentials to the poorer people, quoted as half a million so quite extensive . Some banks and utility companies have deferred payments.

Some are starting to have concerns about possible looting and increased robberies as time goes on, but these are likely to take place a long way from where we live. Even so, our residential community is lobbying the administration to employ armed security over and above our regular guys.

@Steve With no Boobs cruises, are you guys OK with income? Or is that a side gig?

Do you know how much and for how long the employers pay the laid off workers? For instance, the staff at TTR... will they be getting their salaries (minus tips of course) for a long while?

No income at the moment. With no tourists there are no boobs cruises, no hotel bookings, airport transfers, tours or even minor side incomes like bikini sales etc. No one is researching vacations and because no one is here or visiting in the short term the website and forum are quiet, meaning advertising revenue is next to nothing too. It's not only no new income, but cancellations of previous bookings means that won't be realised either.

We do have some rental properties. One is just finished but no one is looking to move at the moment, the other we had a tenant moving in a few weeks back, but he pulled out at the last minute since his salary was tourism related, and we have a third house under construction. We also have 4 more plots that we intend to build on over the next few years. Most of our spare income the last few years has gone into the real estate development. There's no 401k with this job.

Also have a decent sized sum in stocks, but of course they dropped 30-40% recently and may take years to recover

Ironically, we just bought a new car too. Agreed the deal early March, but it had to be transported from the other side of Mexico which took a few weeks. We had to wait for a sufficient number of cars that needed transporting to the same destination to make a full load. It's now stuck at the dealer awaiting pre-sale checks and licensing. But the licensing place is closed and the dealership has just a skeleton staff operating. Not sure when we'll take delivery.

Anyhow, we don't live week to week, we'll get through this. Unlike the resort shut down for renovation we couldn't predict this coming so weren't best positioned to deal with it. But we'll be fine.

I really don't know much about it. Our Ents staff and DJ are freelance and our crew members are employed by the boat company, so I'm not familiar with the laws.
