President Calderon has decreed that all non-essential businesses shut down until May 5th. Does this affect the Cancun area? And if so, what businesses are impacted?

    Bars?

    Nightclubs?

    Restaurants?

    Tour operators?

    All of the above?

Thanks in advance for any input!

    UPDATE:

I just got off the phone with the General Manager at Senor Frog's in Cancun. They're open, and plan to remain so unless they're specifically given papers from the government mandating a shutdown.

Tourists are definitely not being asked to leave.

The Govt has requested non essential personal businesses close for 5 days, but I dont know the definition of "non essential personal business" and I dont know how many will actually take notice of it. Not many I would expect.

    SECOND UPDATE:

Just spoke to Victor, the manager at El Shrimp Bucket - apparently you don't have to close if you have outdoor seating available and/or occupancy for less than 120 people.

Bottom line - CANCUN, HERE WE COME!
