WE booked at Redtag.com for almost all of our trips. The price are low or equal with other Companys.( And yes sunwing sucks)
We also had a very bad experience with Sunwing. We would walk before flying with them again. 0 customer service!
I've been with Sunwing three different times and never had an issue. I guess it's better to be lucky than to be good.

I've been researching for my next trip (Halloween) and I found booking through alpharooms and the flight through westjet is cheaper than any package (sunwing, signature, airtransat, or sunquest). At least $300 cheaper
I've also always booked separate, alpharooms for the room and directly through westjet for flight and this is typically the cheapest way to go! On alpharooms you can choose US funds and then you know your exchange rate is pretty close. They always have great prices!
hmmm, interesting....never had an issue with Sunwing ourselves either. That being said, being members of TTR does have advantages....we always book Westjet when a seat sale pops up and just book TTR direct through the members website.....it is substantially cheaper.
Search results for 2 on August 1st for Oct 25th to Nov 4th Expedia $2721.78 Alpha rooms $1438 (US funds) + $1172 flights (westjet same flights)= $2681.90 (adjusted to Canadian fund to match Expedia price. Yes they are cheaper (and reliable) by $40.00 but you are booking with a foreign company and not protected by Canadian laws and TICCO. Different dates will bring different results, my mental well being is worth at least 3 or 400 discount. Bottom ling do the math, and play with your dates, don't get stuck on 7 nights, and stay away from weekends. If you have airmiles then thats a different story.
