People migrate for all kinds of reasons. And often their reasons are not as petty as going where the good coffee is. The list of things I miss about the US is huge (high quality yard sales, nice clothes, Starbuck's, a postal system, limited access highways, decent beer, just to start) but I moved to Mexico for personal reasons that were far more important than any of those things. So here I am, and I'm glad to be here but I still miss those things.
I don't think it's downtown... I remember a few years back as well when they had a big banner towards downtown that said COMING SOON... STARBUCKS! I was so excited... and then the next year when I arrived the banner was gone altogether . I know, I know it's a tragedy to some to see another commercial chain like Starbucks come to Cancun, but for some it's a good thing (like me)! I'm a huge Starbucks drinker. My husband can't stand it.. he actually liked that little coffee place that was at La Isla Mall (pre-Wilma). NOt sure if it's still there... if so, he can go there and I can head to Starbucks :wow:
Jeesh!! You'd think I brought up some deeply religious and political issue!! What a bunch of differing opinions. All I wanted to do was inform.
I could care less if there is one here, I would never pay 50 pesos for ANY cup of coffee. Hell "Mi Quincena es pesos". But for those of you will bust my chops about my addiction to cigarettes, there is a banner on the corner of Tulum and Coba. "Proxamente 22 de Septiembre Starbucks". Go get your fix.
Starf*#!s Article in yesterdays Denver rocky Mt News. There are 254 of those overpriced, pretenscous damn places within a 50 mile radius of the capitol not including the ones litering the inside of the 3 grocery chains and bookstores. 254 too many See what you started jim in Cancun Jimmy
Denver is exactly where I decided that Starbucks is a Plague! you could not go anywhere Malls Target Supermarkets one on every block. I liked the Whole Foods Coffee much better especially the price.
