Can anyone shed light on this? Horrible TA review from April 2010

This is what we're looking for:

A place to relax, be ourselves, and wallow in the fact that we're finally married.

A place where we can snuggle in public/kiss in the pool without offending anyone.

A place where we can occasionally lay out, read a book, and not be splashed by screaming kids.

Good food, friendly people, a comfortable atmosphere.

I DON'T want to be afraid that if I sit by the pool in my swimsuit that I will be judged for my juicy ass, thunder thighs, dreadlocks, and hairy legs (I made the personal choice not to shave several years ago... call me feminist if you want :icon_wink. I'm happy with who I am, and comfortable with my body... but even the most confident person can be bothered by ignorant prejudice.

but you shouldnt be

the reality is people are going to talk about people - thats just natural

that old saying "sticks and stones" truly needs to be revisited these days

"sticks and stones can break my bones
but words can never hurt me"

so simple and so needed these days

people talk bad about me all the time - with an attitude like i have what should i expect?

right?

people are going to call me a smart ass and a know it all

is that really me or is it someones perception of me?

all i am saying is unless someone causes you physical harm - try and overlook ignorant comments and meaningless words

growing up in a neighborhood of 12 boys (all the same age) we would constantly run into our house and one of the 12 of us would tell my mom

"so and so did this and so and so did that" all my mom would ask is "is anyone bleeding?"

if nobody was bleeding mom would just say "get out of my kitchen then and go back to playing"

good lesson when it comes to lifes little sour moments

I must be blind, when I click on the link I get the entire reviews from every single person.... I even clicked through April and saw several crap reviews (full of lies) can anyone please send me the link??? I always read trip advisor and people either love TTR or hate it LOL we love it!!

 

Yeah, unfortunately there wasn't a way to post just the one review. Just click on the link, and read the long one posted July 12 entitled "Read this review". It says at the bottom that he was visiting in April 2010.

EDIT: Actually, never mind! Looks like TripAdvisor removed the post as it violated their guidelines. Yay TripAdvisor!!!

 

I thought I was going blind as well. I went so far as to click on only the shitty reviews and look there for it but couldn't see it.

 

I guess the thread is moot now that the review has been removed, but for those of you that didn't read it, he basically said that the only thing good about TTR was the food; that all the drinks were terrible and made only with artificial flavoring; that the majority of the guests were (in his words) "morbidly obese" and therefore the place fell flat on its "sexy" vibe (because we fatties can't POSSIBLY be sexy :aktion052; he said he heard a person behind him say that she was having a great time and would come back every year, and when he turned around to see her he thought she must have weighed at least 400 lbs...

...and the last paragraph (which I'm most curious about) was the piece de resistance. He complained about the timeshare pitch, said he didn't want to do it, said they were harassing him, said he complained about that on the third day and then the general manager followed him to his room and let himself in, and then said he was calling the police unless the guy paid a few thousand $$$ to him. Basically alleging extortion.

Now I don't think for a minute that this guy was telling the whole story; everything I've ever heard about TTR management makes me think this guy was off his nut. But eventually he was kicked off the resort, allegedly without a refund. I posted this thread to try to get some info on the part of the story that he may have left out.

 

Ah, thank you for the recap. I was looking for the story too and couldn't find it. This guy sounds like a major loser. Sounds like he wouldn't be happy anywhere. So, when are you going to TTR? We're going the first week in September.:lotsofmichaelfs:

 

We'll be there September 8-15. We get married on the 5th, get a day or two to pack, and then off to sunny Cancun! rangehat: I absolutely cannot wait.

 

I read that long review last night as well. We have been there 4 times and don't be concerned about a review like that one. Even though the story was very long I have a feeling it was not the whole story. He sure had a burr under his saddle for some reason. If what he said about the management was true, I can't imagine what he did to cause management to threaten him with $2000 and 3 days in jail.

 

I also came across that in my research. It seems pretty overwhelming in terms of positive feedback for this place so I think it's safe to ignore that review. I want to stay here but my main concern is my age, not sure if I'm too young. I'm 28 and I've read on a lot of forums & reviews that most people here are 40 - 50 range.
