We thought this would be a fun thing to do, until we saw a video taken from the arena in Cancun where the bull dies a cruel slow death. Glad we saw that in advance and didn't end up going!
We went about 25 years ago. We are outdoor people, live in the country and hunt extensively. I do not recommend going. Nothing sporting about the event. Hard to believe, but it is the truth, the sword left his hand and landed on a girls lap, next to us. Amazing lucky. Oh, had to buy toilet paper by the square for the ladies. Just my opinion.
Yes, it's certainly safe enough if you mean is it in a safe part of town. You'll see the bullring on your way in from the airport. Bullfights are 3pm every Wednesday when the season is on (not exactly sure when the season is, but I think it is running now). I've never been myself, I don't support it. But it is very gory with lots of blood, definitely not for the squeamish.
Did anyone ever find out the season for the bull fights?? That seems like a neat thing to experience.
