Hm, I wrote this one hour ago, but the post just dissapeared :(

Here we go again: I have a british friend who arrives soon - hes set to stay for about 2 months and he asked me to find out if there are any places that sell "classic" fish`n` chips here in Cancun.

    Anyone knows of any?

There is a fish and chiip place called Sirena on Ave. Bonampak in Peninsula plaza next to Starbucks and Ruebens Hamburgers.

    Fish "n" Chips

We have 2 places on the island that have great fish n chips. One is Ballyhoo located on the dock behind the Pemex station. It's served with tartar and 3 Mexican sauces and freshly cut fries. 55 pesos. Delicious, but a lunch sized portion.

The second place is Jax. The owners have a fishing boat and catch their own fish. Their fish n chips is a huge portion of freshly caught fish, usually grouper, served with malt vinegar and tartar and great fries. Very inexpensive. About 75 pesos. For those who haven't been there Jax is a nice, little beach bar with 60 peso buckets of Corona and great cheeseburgers.

Lots of places have fish they serve with chips but "British style" no one comes anywhere close. Sirena is probably the closest I have tried but it's still a million miles away.

I guess the main problem is cold water fish such as Cod and Haddock dont exist here and taste very different to warm water
    Caribbean fish.
