?

Do you believe that UFC is dominating the airwaves and boxing is going to be left behind.

  1. 1. Yes..The UFC is the wave of the future.

    100.0%
  2. 2. No...boxing's roots too deep and will be here for many years to come.

well, theres a seat right along side every other boxing fan out there, this one has your name on it :) :) :) :) :) :) :) haha seroiusly though, the mixed martial arts world is alot more appealing to new viewers than boxing. People like to see guys actively moving, trying for a submission, trying to knock the other guy out. In boxing, if you go to take out someones legs, the fights over you're DQ'd lol, wheres the fun in that. Boxing is the Soccer of contact sports

Yeah I think MMA will be bigger than Boxing in a few years, I hope Don King doesnt get his mits on it though and it turns too showbiz.
Look out for Prides first US event called the real deal, its going to be good and give UFC a run for its money.

Have to agree with Scott on this one, Don King has almost destroyed boxing, questionable calls in boxing have been another death to the sport starting with Sugar Ray Leonard over Marvin Hagler, in fact Sugar Ray as talented as he may have been was totally promoted by TV, he took his name from soemone else, retired for a torn retina and then unretired a bunch of times and never had to build himself up, each time he got a title fight.

Don King gets to promote all of the boxers and if he can't get you in his corner he won't give you a shot. He should be in jail numerous times, killed a man in Cleveland, failed to pay taxes, etc., yet he continually walks and snubs his nose at the system.

Would love to see boxing recover and get rid of all of the shenanigans.

I agree  King  has done nothing good for the sport ,however that does not mean that the rest of the folks involved in boxing are just going to throw in their towels and hang up their gloves :!:

I believe that because of shows like contender and Friday night fights that boxing will rise above the adversity and conquer :!: :!:

That said...Anyone see contender last night???

    Any thoughts :?:

First I wanted to address all those UFC people who believe that UFC will take over boxing and boxing will become obsolete. Not in my lifetime. Why, you say? Because those who love UFC love it for their reasons and boxing people love boxing for their reasons. I see no reason why both fans cant enjoy each others sport. Boxing in its truest form is an art form, different from UFC but still an art form. Remove Don King, remove the bull$^&Y*&$#, and it still falls back to the sweet science of finding a way to win...just like UFC. I think one of the reasons UFC is so popular is the number of the arts it allows. Boxing is one art. UFC is multiple arts. Another reason UFC is so popular is because the generation of 12-30 year olds now grew up on extremely violent video games...we had Punchout when I was younger...the newest generation of contact sports fans have had an array of games that allow for serious blood and guts and anything less just doesnt do it for them. Kinda like a young kid having a lot of sex young...anything less just doesnt compare. I wish for both sports to thrive because they both have merit.

The Contender from this past Tuesday...great fight...the kid ran out of gas and the Steve Forbes..(the old guy) didnt...what does that tell you. The old guy is great shape! It took him a round to find his rythym but after that it was a great fight. I still predict that one of these younger guys is going to get to him. Who I want to see fight most is the guy that won the Toyota Tundra...that boy is a junk yard dog. Your gunna have to knock him flat out in order to win! Also, it looks like K-9 from my MOTOR CITY is taking on the youngest kids there. Its going to be a great fight, the young kid has a lot of skills for being so young, he is fast and smart for his age. On the other hand, K-9 has all the power. My prediction.....K-9 by KO in the 4th round...he's gunna catch this kid....and his chin aint gunna take it. Any betters the other way???????????
