    agree bart

when we book our halloween buses i collect the money at least a month in advance

if there are no shows - its on them and the rest of us get to enjoy the extra space

i have had so many times when i got burned. one year on the memorial day weekend trip to new braunfels we rented out two houses next door to each other and several people did not show - guess who got stuck with a bout a grand bill?

lets just say we dont count those people as friends any longer

people tend to show more often when they pay in advance

So totally agree with you Steve. It is such a disappointment when you spend weeks or even in some cases months on the board building one up and then Whammo, some class less ass decides to pull the plug.

We have done three of yours, I tried organizing some and sent out PM's and stuff and got verbal committments only to have the no shows. Your cruises are a blast, a ton of fun and one of the highlights of our trips. One year, we weren't sure if we could make it due to some stomach issues, but I was going to meet you in the loobby and pay for our share, luckily we did make it, but like you say, a commitment is a commitment.

One suggestion I would have if you don't want to do pay in advance, is to out the people that commit and don't show. Perhaps the embarrassment, or even the threat of it would be enough to get firmer committments.

I hope you are able to keep these going Steve, they are always a ton of fun.

    Thanks for the past memories...:)

Steve I have to tell ya, this year was my first cruise with you, and I wish I could have done 3 of them in the 10 days, such a great time and both relaxing and partying fun..... to those that do not show because of hangovers, shame on you, I had one hour of sleep when some of the cancuncare guys had set up a pre arranged wake up call for me .... (THanks again guys) .. I am so glad I was able to finally go on this infamous cruise, though the beer that Dos Equis handed me at 9am hurt a bit, and getting my sea legs took a bit, it was well worth it..... Steve I hope you keep these cruises running in whatever way works best for you...call out the no shows, pre pays, whatever you need to do, Cuz I for one had a blast with you and janet and the rest of our bunch and hope to do it again

We did the first and had a blast it would be a true shame if you stopped these Steve. Even though we have only been able to do 1 of yours, any chance we get to participate in yours we take. The other times we have been down either it was an in between week on numbers were too low. I know from experience I think our group was fairly successful didnt we get new people from the resort which offset the no shows for that trip.

You know who show and dont show it is up to you to decide how to handle that.

Be upfront, if you commit but cant make it for whatever reason at least show up and explain your situation. Things happen, when you dont show up Steve has no idea why. If you show up and explain the situation it can help Steve understand. In the end planning these things is something Steve does for us, in our case his cruise overshaddows any we have taken anywhere period. He must organize people food alcohol boats etc that all costs Steve money. When its in his control he still pays for it.

    Steve,
We weren't booked to go on one of your cruises this year, however I did meet 2 couples that were signed up for the May 2nd cruise and on May 1st that told me that they were signed up for the cruise but weren't going, I asked why and the reply was "we just signed up in case we felt like going we wanted our name on the list-but we are not going to go". If you could get the logistics worked out to make it easy for you-I think prepaying is a good idea. Even if you have to increase the cost to cover your expense.

    Steve,
I would like to take this time to apologize for being inconsiderate assholes Jan 25, 2010. As I've come to learn from this site, the amount of work and fun you provide for us, it was horrible of us not to show. Jeff did go down that morning and the weather was kinda crappy and thought it would be cancelled, also there we're only 3 other couples and the french girl there at the time. So scumsuckers that we are assumed that it would be cancelled without waiting to hear it from you. I hope that you will accept our apology because we would very much like to be able to attend a booze cruise in the future. And if you require a deposit it would be understood. Again we are very sorry.
    Deb

perhaps another option would be to assign a person or have someone take over the responsibility (many would be willing and able to do this for the booze cruise and i often do on ours) of making sure everyone was kept in the loop and understood the entire process (making sure they had their names, emails, and such)

from planning numerous parties over the years - i have found the more you can bombard them with everything from emails, to phone calls, to face book notices, word of mouth, and face to face - the better chances you have with all showing up well informed and ready to go - i think this is evidenced by the near 100 percent show up rate our groups seem to have for every event we have (whether that is a booze cruise in cancun, a halloween bus trek with 60 people to 18 different bars, or a ski trip to coloradao)

this would free you up and limit the amount of communication you would have to do and certainly cut down considerably on the no shows

hey might be worth a try?

    the best

    rob

I agree Rob, woody kept all of us informed right up until we all left and reminded us all as the week went on while we were there,
