We always go to the "Stinky Bar" with Steve, Janet & whoever can't stop the Party! We have been to the Island so many times we have seen, done & bought everything! There is usually a large group that just files off the boat & follows Steve to the Bar & the Party continues.... :aktion031:
Our stop on the island is only around an hour these days. It's a bit shorter than it used to be due to the skinny dip stop before and also cruising by North beach on our return rather than heading straight back I'd say there probably isn't enough time to rent a golf cart - we arrive about 2:30 when most places have run out of carts for the day, so first you have to track an available one down then sign the papers and pay, then you'll need to be back in time to hand the cart in and get to the dock. You'll probably only end up driving the cart for 30 mins and that's not enough time to really enjoy what the island has to offer. Also, we dont go to the stinky bar any more. It got too stinky, we'd walk in with 30 people and 20 would walk straight out again. We now go to a bar called Brisas Grill which is right by the dock. They have a great live band on most days we are there.
Good info, thanks! How much do you guys normally bring to the bar on Isla for drinks? And USD or pesos?
I personally like to have more than enough-just incase. If you are walking around everyone is handing you delicious tequila and you will want to buy it!! The more tequila I drink the more money I spend, I think we spent $150 on hats and rings and you know-"must haves"!
There is really NO time to "explore" the island, though there is enough time to hit the little shops, etc., or to drop into a bar and suck back a couple of beers. Unless you want to actually plan to shop (not the best idea when you're drunk, which you will most likely be), then $10 is probably cool for tipping the guys on the boat, unless you want to individually tip then it ends up being more, I've found.
