Money is money and they would never turn it away however the staff pays their bills and purchase groceries with pesos.

we tip 40 on the cruise and anywhere from 5 to 15 on the island where lunch is. we have actually seen people not tip on the cruise and wish we brought more cash to make up for it.

As the guy that does check in where I'm asking for the balance payment, you'd be surprised how many people bring exact money for the balance and have nothing else in their wallet/purse for the whole day.

Tips are split between 8-10 staff . The DJ, two Ents staff, Captain and 4-6 crew members who all work their ass off for 6 hours.

A big thanks to all those who tip generously, and make up for those that don't tip at all.

I am on a fixed income and watch my spending to afford to go on vacations. My wife and I would like to experience the Boobs Cruise at some point, but, in our financial situation it would be a frivolous expenditure. This would then be compounded by tipping.
I do not have the discretionary money to spend on tipping, should I forgo the experience because of this?
I guess that same question pertains to tipping in other areas.

Also playing devils advocate, why is the onus on customers to tip so that service employees have a livable wage? Employers should just pay a decent wage.(not saying Steve does not, from what I glean from his interactions on this forum he is a generous and fair person)
I know workers in non service industry jobs that do an excellent job for customers, but, they are not rewarded with a tip being it is not expected.
I guess my question is why for some and not others.

As far as fixed Income and things that are "frivolous", don't you think a trip to Cancun might fit into that area, just saying, my parents told me years ago if you can't afford something then don't buy it.

Tipping keeps the costs down for the employer/ Steve making things like the Boobs Cruise affordable to more people, you would be paying for it one way or another, if Steve said tips are not welcome the cost for the Boobs Cruise would be more more expensive.

You don't have to tip, but if you don't tip and feel guilty about it, maybe your conscience is telling you something.

On the other hand, if service is bad, we don't tip, or tip very little. I see it as the difference between socialism and capitalism. Why work harder if you're going to make the same money anyway?

Service on the Boobs Cruise is never short of spetacular, so we like to encourage that behavior with tips.

we always factor in tips when going out to dinner , staying at a hotel , going to a bar ..to me that's part of saving up for vacation
if we can't afford the tip we don't go out or go somewhere that doesn't need a tip
some places factor in the tip as part of your order , some don't
the min wage for a person who works as a server is lower ( as far as I know ) than other industries because they say the tip is part of that min wage
