Speaking of F1... I do watch it from time to time but I have to say that even with the money invested and the competitiveness among foreign manufacturers, I find it somewhat boring. Rarely is there a close finish at the end of any race because the race always seems to be dominated by one driver. Sure the cars are technically on the cutting edge and have a lot of horsepower, but there are only a short portions of any particular circuit that the drivers get to open up and let the horses run. They recently announced that F1 won't be returning to Indy next year and I totally echo the sentiments of Bob Kravitz who writes for the Indy Star: www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007707130446 They also announced that beginning next year there will be a MotoGP race coming to IMS which I would much rather watch than F1. From a business aspect I'm not sure why they decided to scrub the U.S. Grand Prix since it was the most attended F1 race on the circuit since coming to Indy 8 years ago. Yearly attendance averaged 125,000 according to reports. Other than the U.S. lacking a team or driver in the circuit, I am baffled why they would do it. But as Bob said in his article, we can certainly do without it here. As Jason stated, I attend races to party with the masses. And when the Indy 500 comes around, I usually go to check out the concerts as well since they usually have some good shows/acts coming to town to attend the race and perform as part of the festivities. Be it at the track or downtown.
cant get more boring then watching 43 cars make left hand turns for 3 hours (imo), they must slow down for the chicanes and turns, this shows their driving ability not just that they can go fast, while it can be dominated by one driver that is because it is all pit strategy and gaining huge leads of time ahead of the remaining drivers, also it all depends on the car, mercedes ferrari are gonna be at the top because they are top manufacturers, its kind of like the yankess, red sox whatever team is good in baseball dominating and not the kansas city royals, its all about how much money and resources they have (sorry i know very little about baseball)while there may not be alot of overtaking when it happens it is unbelievable and there is an american driver Scott Speed racing for Scuderia Toro Rosso
