Metabolism is the biggest factor in weight loss. The rate at which your metabolism works determines how fast or slow you will gain or lose weight. The best way to speed up your metabolism aside from eating multiple times a day is by building lean muscle. Lean muscle will transform and essentially wipe out negative fats from your body, and leaving only the essential fatty tissue. The natural formula for a healthier lifestyle is 3 parts; Nutrition (diet), Cardiovascular conditioning and Strength/Weight training. You MUST have a fair balance of all three of these to not only lose the lbs you want to (safely) but maintain it throughout the rest of your life. TMBC gave some pretty good advice, and I'd like to add a few pointers to it as well. As stated, first and foremost, switch up your workouts on a daily basis. Doing the same repetitive motions over and over again will work for a short while, but you'll eventually plateau and not see the desired results. Muscle confusion is basically your way of constantly breaking your muscles down in different ways so that they are recovering in different ways. Factor in numerous different exercises for each muscle group, switching up the amount of reps, sets and weight you use. Everyone's body is different, so you have to find a weekly routine that works for you. You can work your arms into pretty much any upper body exercise but for some the 2/3 muscle group per workout works better. The abdominal muscles are the fastest repairing muscle you'll be working on (although it may not seem it at first, they will HURT), you can work them every day, or every other day and constantly see results. As for the diet, well there are good carbs and bad carbs, as stated, you just need to know which ones to eat. It's equally as important to know WHEN to eat as how much of it you should. I, myself try not to have any carbs past 5pm. The body starts to shut down, and the carbs are the hardest to break down, so if the body is shutting down, the carbs aren't going anywhere. 5-10 lbs in 40 days is definitely not an impossible goal, but you want to make sure you are doing it right, so that you have the focus to keep it off long after Cancun. Not trying to devalue the other advice given, but I am a personal trainer and hope my knowledge can help break things down a bit more for you. Any other advice you need, I'll be more than happy to answer, as I'm sure a few others.
All fad diets are a joke, they do more harm than good in the long run. There is NO safe way to lose 10 lbs in 9 days, you'd pretty much have to starve yourself. Although I do recommend a gallon of water a day
eat whole grains too.. before workouts, slow burning carbs, such as brown rice, and after a workout, maybe a baked potato (fast burning carbs) and try to get in some protein within 40 mins of strength training workout!
Dude, you guys are great. Thanks for all the info, Fletch you are just a wealth of knowledge bro. I am in decent shape and have no idea how i even accomplished that. Thanks Guys btw HW, in l.a. all that personality sh**t goes out the window. Bottom line is calories in and calories out... Cut back your calories. To loose weight I stay at about 1200 calories per day. I burn 3000 calories per day (look it up on the internet based upon your height, weight and level of activity).... That means I have a burn of 1800 calories per day. 3500 calories equals 1 pound. That is about 3 pounds per week..... It is all about calories..... That is it. Dtay away from everything else... they are all fad diets or gimicks... Oh yeah.... Drink lots of water. Your body usese energy to process the water.... For every pound you weigh you should drink 1 ounce of water per day..... Example 200 pounds person = 200 ounces of water or about 11 bottles of water per day... (17 ounce bottle of water).
You're consuming 1800 calories less than you burn a day? You realize how bad that is for your body, right? You'd be better off eating closer to 2500 to maintain that muscle and lose the fat. At your rate you're surely losing muscle.
its basic the same idea behind the show the biggest loser and yes it works just look at the results we can go through all the other things related and get lost in all the junk but the bottom line is you are 100 percent correct .............its all about calories in calories out period in 40 days you will have no problem at all losing 5 to 10 lbs by simply burning more calories than you are taking in if you are wanting to eat helathier and exercise more correctly there are a multitude of things you can do but if you are simply wanting to lose weight.............. this is how you do it it works and it is very simple rob
Work out your BMR then google Harris Benedict Equation. Eating around 500 calories less should bring a steady fat loss of around 1lb a month. I would look at doing a Fullbody routine ( like tentigers or riptoes starting strength ) 3 times a week with HIIT cardio on off days. Personally i will be doing atkins for the week before i fly, i can loose 7lb in a week on this but bear in mind any loss on atkins will be water weight and not fat, so after 2 days of drinking, eating and partying this weight will be straight back on. Make sure you ger your calories right ( alot of people think eating less will help ) this is NOT true your body will store fat if your not eating enough. Aim for 1gram of protein for every 1lb of body weight. Moderate carbs, good fats ( i.e nuts, peanut butter ) keep the sugar to a minimum even fruits, i would suggest 2 pieces of fruit a day. LOADS of greens and veggies. At the moment my diet looks like this; 4 scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast allmonds & low fat greek yoghurt banana & protein shake tuna, light mayo salad on a wholemeal pitta chicken salad 80g oats with 1 scoop whey & banana some form of meat or fish ( chicken, steak, turkey, salmon ) with shit loads of veggies tablesponn of PB and a casien protein shake
great advice big stoz.. thats probably the smartest thing i've read! Starving yourself is never good.. in the end, its worse! YOu want muscle.. and don't be so concerned with the number on the scale, but the way your body looks.. I was 135, I was 120, but now im 123, but a bit smaller then I was at 120, due to more muscle!!
I am a big guy 6 foot 2 inches and about 260 pounds..... so it may be different for a smaller person... I have a personal trainer at the gym 3 days per week. My pounds and body fat % continue to fall..... My trainer would like me to eat a few more calories but he said this is working so he is ok with it as long as my body fat % continues to drop with my weight.... A few years ago I weighed 435 pounds. I have lost over 175 pounds. I am 6 foot 2 inches. I am down to about 260 right now. I only started going to the gym about 2 months ago. Before that I ate about 1000 calories per day with very little exercise. That is how I lost 175 pounds... Just like Gastric Bypass Surgery but without the surgery. I went to the class for the surgery but then got scared and didnt do the surgery. I ate the way they told us but without the surgery. I lost the weight in less than a year.
