Dan, being that you know some pro bodybuilders maybe asking you would be best. I've read that Insulin spikes help create muscle mass when working out, Provided you spike them at the correct time. Is there any truth to that?
Best time for that is right after your workout as your glycogen levels are low meaning your muscles will absord those carbs. remember insulin is very anabolic also but spiking insulin levels through out the day will cause body fat storage. Hope it helps
muscle mass is built during rest... the insulin spike gets nutrients to the muscles faster...thats why you hear all of this drink grape juice prior to whey protein and things of that nature....the simple carbs in the grape juice create an insulin spike and the insulin spike will get the the protein to the muscles faster
you do know that the pro body builders take water pills before competitions to get rid of all the water weight so they have more vascularity too, madd bomber
well generally the water cut starts a week before or more by cutting out sodium and drinking loads of distilled water while also limiting their carb intake to white carbs and limiting red meat.....water pills are a last resort ....not too mention this is to look a specific way for a two hour competition...once u begin rehydrating that weight comes right back and ur vascularity disappears...so to cut weight that way for spring break probably isnt desireable....i will actually be doing this from sun-next fri as i have to weigh in for a jiu jitsu tournament in st. louis
Those pills(diuretics) were banned for years n pro bodybuilders were actually tested for them as some have died from getting rid of too much water in the body. But those were extreme cases
