If you do a day time booze cruise, it is included with your price to the island.... Xcaret was pretty cool.. I also went swimming with dolphins here... That was awesome..
At Xel Ha you just had to put a small deposit on the flippers and life jacket which you got back on returning them i believe
I went to see the ruins at Chichen Itza last year. They are really spectacular! The only downside is the long bus trip, it was about 3 hrs away, so it was definitely a full day to see them. There are other ruins near by, but not on the scope that Chichen Itza is. Booze Cruises are a blast, they are around $40 or so depending on the operator, they take you out for a snorkle, and then usually to Isla Mujares. They sometimes include lunch on the island as well. If your unsure on how to book stuff, just talk to the tour operators on the resort, they'll have a tonne of info! Enjoy!
