    The question was right up my alley. The "old Cancun" is my specialty. I'm going to be completely lost when I finally return at the end of this month, after a 15 year absence.

    shari , you are def the "guru" of that era. you will be amazed at the new Cancun, especially the airport. no more walking the tarmac with puddles of jet fuel and armed guards!!!!

    Now the airport is just a big mall that they park airplanes at!

    Wow! They had just put in the first jetway the last time I was there. I was pretty impressed that you could finally avoid the long walk to the plane. I still remember when the airport was just a little building with a tiny wooden sign out front. I have a feeling that I don't know what I'm in for. But ready or not I'll be arriving on the 26th. :p

    I remember people smoking cigarretes walking to the plane with fuel on the ground , and I'm thinking , this cant be safe!!!! or walking to the plane while other planes are taxing around.

    the airport is a big mall now , as rivergirl stated . it even has a salon , and a Jimmy Buffett restaurant!

    I think you will be surprised at the Puerto Cancun development downtown
