Let's see now, after "Dolly" leaves. Playa Marlin, and Playa Dolfines have shrunck but still exsist. Playa Chocmool (Behind the Forum) forget it, you have about 10 meters of sand Playa Dolfines, watch out for the rocks I just just got back from Playa del carmen and it is the same story there. Sorry foks, the photos are a few months, or years old. They sure as hell don't don't look like this anymore.
I am at Cancun Palace right now. There is no beach here and it is blocked off so you can't go down . Has a very nice pool though! AS far As Ambliance Villias ( not sure if that is spelled right) There is a giant beach but there is sea weed everywhere or there was when we checked out.
We were afraid that Dolly might harm the beaches even more. Sad to hear about Cancun Palace. I'm praying the beaches come back. That was our first love when it came to Cancun. Now its just not very good. Anyways, have a great time angels among us!!
Kind of illustrates what I was saying, it is impossible to keep up to date on the status of every beach in Cancun as changes can happen from day to day. Most of those photo's were taken late last year and were only ever accurate on the day they were taken.
hi everyone, Is there a seaweed problem right now along the beaches? I have looked at the web cams from the Tri-Royals, and what you can see of the ocean looks awfully dark and patchy. We were at the Islander last year and the Sands this year and the beaches were rocky and changing almost daily. We're thinking about checking out the Haciendas in Playa next year. It seems that their beaches (although MUCH calmer - I'll miss the surf) have faired better than Cancun's.
Our friends just got back and as us have been going for many years. The beaches are unpredictable as said, and IMHO wil never be what they once were. They are too far gone. You may get a period of time where you have a place to "perch" but definately time has switched paths. Unless you are on the bayside. Sad. But after 20+ years of awesome beaches, time to head further south. Mother Nature. Many places to still explore, and with time will build and become the "new Cancun".
I used to go to Isla Mujeres as a tourist guide at least once a week for years, but I didn't go for about a year. Unbelievable! I couldn't recognize Playa Norte yesterday. Almost no beach at all..... and what is left has been squatted by the restaurants  . The sea is still great. The village has changed too: many stores are closed, especially one where the prices were written on each item (good ones) and a guy in one still open begged me to buy, it would have been his first sale too bad I was looking for something different.... which I couldn't find. I used to buy there all my gifts for France (and not tourists artesenias, really nice gifts). What happened?
