    Hmmm...

The Chilean miners story was a great one to cover, and very uplifting.

That being said, it seems the fate of the world's environment (debatable, but important) should get much more coverage than just one reporter and no live coverage.

I was just thinking today.. that's great that the miners made it out.. but I wonder how many children died of hunger, sickness, and violence in Africa during that same period of time... Just kind of makes you wonder what we should really be focusing our attention on... and why it is that we care more about what Paris Hilton does than we do about things that seem to be to be far more urgent.... Climate change debate is certainly more worthwhile a topic than what Lindsey Lohan is doing but I'd be very surprised if it gets a 5th of the airtime she does...

Come on Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan is major news and sells advertising and people tune in. So what if a few kids die of starvation. This is how the media looks at it. If the kids died in their own towns maybe they would change, but somehow I doubt it. The media should really be ashamed of themselves.

No, no shortage of tabloid news.

Just it doesnt get coverage on the National TV news channels, no commercial or political influence either. Just news.... as it should be.

I'll agree that the BBC has the reputation of being a lot more factual and less sensational than many other outlets.. though I think its probably a little naive to think that they don't have some political slant on certain issues... certainly nothing lie FoxNews but unless they are all opinion-less robots they're going to put a pro-England and (liberal I suspect) tint on some stories... even if they try not to...

Oh they certainly have a pro British bias Nationally, but it would be crazy to be anything else.

As for political slant they regularly get criticised by the right for being too left wing, and regularly criticised by the left for being too right wing. I guess if you can upset both at the same time then overall you're doing a decent job at staying in the middle.
