I find it funny when people( seen at least 10 requests) ask for reviews, and when the review comes out and its not what they want to see they question the integrity of the poster.

Thanks Steve look forward to some good news and any potential resolutions GOV has in mind, I agree that the GOV management should realize this site is an invaluable tool for them to reach out to perspective clients.... I mean just look at the uproar and criticism their getting now from just a handful of negative reviews... if they fix the issues and turn it around the negatives will quickly become positives and the people will come... like field of dreams... BUILD IT GOV AND THEY WILL COME....and CUM...:)

    Steve,
One thing to address is the perception that GOV representatives have come across as defensive or evasive. Once the negative reports came in, the liaisons got quiet. When people started asking the hard questions, some people from the resort seemed hurt. I'm wondering if cross-cultural differences in communication styles are having a negative impact that you could help them avoid.

I hope you can help them understand that they have a real opportunity here with your site. Instead of seeing the comments as insults, they should be made to see the very unique and powerful opportunity to have a direct conduit into the minds of their customers. Few businesses ever get that kind of opportunity and would give anything if they could!

As clients, we know not everyone's every wish is going to be granted. We just want to have an honest, solid, trustworthy voice saying, "This is what it's going to be. Period."

A large portion of the discontent stems from promises that were made and not kept. Simple solution for the management: Make no promises. Just "surprise" us when you get something we would like off the ground.

Just thinking out loud.... and please don't shoot for me saying it.........

One thing to consider is that we are not the group of people that GOV is attempting to attract and that is why they are not bending over backwards to please us or change beyond what they have already promised. It seems they don't want a hard partying, fun and loud group wrecking their relaxed atmosphere. Though they are woefully deficient in delivering on some of their "upscale" promises....it seems we want them to be something they are not, and have no intention being. Below is quoted directly off their website.

“I’m a star – and I’m ready for my close-up: close-up to the beach, close-up to the fun. I’m exclusive, living in the hip, happening heart of Cancun, offering shopping, fine dining and nightlife as well as the picture-postcard beachfront that dreams are made of. Talk about good-looking: every one of my rooms has an ocean view! Best of all, I’ve got a peaceful, upscale, adults-only vibe. Call me the resort that has everything....but call me.”

Please note that it says "peaceful, upscale, adults-only vibe." I don't think they (as a company) ever promised us another Temptation... though we wanted it badly and probably "heard" what we wanted to hear from them. And maybe some of their (GOV staff) people online were just trying to be pleasers and got caught up in the miscommunication as well.

Also my perspective is that though us CCC peeps want to have a loud voice, we really represent.... in sheer numbers..... a very small segment of the "adults only" vacationing population and GOV isn't likely to change just to please us. Consider that GOV has been at 100% capacity and very few of them have been CCC members. We are going to GOV in early April and I see only 12 CCC couples who are booked for the same time... out of 440 rooms. But, when we band together (hopefully) it will sure seem like more than 12 couples.

In reality, I think we were hoping for another (but way better) Temptation..... but this is not it. Maybe there isn't another TTR type of place because there really isn't a demand for it (after all TTR isn't at 100% capacity 100% of the time).

We will go to GOV for three days (April 3 - 6) with "modified expectations" and will have a great time (with what looks to be a very cool group of CCC people) and on then on to TTR (April 6 -13) to meet up with really great friends and enjoy the unique atmosphere that is TTR.

Wow when I read that on their website last week that was the moment I went from "I can't wait to get there" to "Can we change our reservation".

We are still booked at GOV but I need the party of TTR...kinda thought that's what they were trying to do at GOV. Now we see that it's not.

I currently don't see GOV as an alternative to TTR at this time.
It may turn into that and think it would be a smokin' move for them make.

I'm kinda sad at this point. I wanted the slightly more upscale hotel but wanted the TTR atmosphere. Looks like they have decided not to attempt it at this time...too bad. A relaxing vibe not Hip vibe seems to be what they are going for. Hip would include dance music by the pool and late nights to get guests engaged with each other. Some entertainment/games by the pool (no they don't have to be a racy as TTR's games). Get the guests to make friendships and they will return year after year with those friends...oh wait that's what TTR does.

Seems to me they are recreating a theme that is already over done in Cancun. You have at least 5 other hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya that already play spa music by the pool and have very little night life to speak of (closing at 1am ain't nightlife).
Heck Oasis already has Oasis Sens which is already themed this way.

Slopoke is right, in a way it is your prospective on what you want GOV to be without reading the fine print.
How many topics have been on CCC about making fun of Tripadvisor reports from people that had no idea of the party waiting for them at TTR and giving them a bad rating because of topless women, drinking and loud music into the morning that most of us here on CCC expect to happen and most of the reasons why we go.
When GOV came online most wanted a TTR clone with upgrades but didn't read the fine print and are getting bent because its not the frat house that TTR can be and people are disappointed. They only changed to a more Euro type resort a month ago so dont expect a miracle it will take time to get GOV's groove on and dont be disappointed if it NEVER ends up like a TTR clone.
Honestly the subject should not even be discussed until ALL of the rooms are done and GOV has a year to find its personality.
Dont get to full of yourself CCC members, you are only a small fraction of the visitors to GOV and what you want her to be may not be what is on the minds of ownership.

Well. They have a swim up bar in the pool. That's party time in daylight hours. They have a disco for night time hours and if not open later then one we will find somewhere ( beach ) to party. It will be fun That's the whole point. It doesn't really matter what direction the hotel wants to go. If when weare there it will go whatever direction we can take it. Unless they run out of booze they can't really stop us.

    Hurry up April.

I think things really went sideways was when CC members hoped and commented that the GOV would be an upscale alternative to TTR.
And I agree we are a very small fraction of people going to the GOV.
Another thing that I don't think has really come up.. as I'm sure the GOV had their repeaters, and have certain expectations book months in advance and now they are having to deal with this change... GOV I'm sure is doing what they can to respect these peoples holidays as well.. and as time goes on and it become more known for being an Adult only, and topless optional and things will change. Could any of us long time repeaters of TTR imagine if they wanted to change the concept of TTR.. not only would it be devastating I would like to think they would try and accommodate us.
Our very first trip out of country was Blue Bay Getaway Cancun.. we had the time of our lives, we then heard of Blue Bay Getaway in PUERTO VALLARTA really cheap deal.. Were we disappointed nothing like Blue Bay in Cancun. Then BBG turned into Temptation... Yehaa.. again a blast, a couple years later thought lets try TTR in Cabo... again disappointed.. I guess the lesson is do your home work... Nothing will ever be like TTR in Cancun...

I don't mind the it being relaxing during the day there is a swim up bar and alcohol I will be fine! It was just my understanding that Coyotes (the bar) would be a more party atmosphere! If they have to turn the music down at 1 thats fine as long as the liquor is still flowing! Steve I am curious how yours and Jannets lunch meeting went? :ernaehrung005:

Not sure I agree with slopoke3. Look at there brochure. Wrist bands to show your taste in the LS. Positioned between TTR and Desire. We got that from Valentina. Desire is not a boring relaxing snooze by the quiet pool kind of resort so we hear. So the Topless optional alternative to the clothing optional Desire is exactly what we were sold. Not a TTR clone no. But there should be no judging topless women AFTER Dec 23, right? but it seems that has been an issue all Jan. It better not be the end of February.

Also having theme nights is again somewhere between TTR and some other resort. MORE LIKE TTR than being distinctly Different, Right?

So just deliver what you sold us on CCC and all is good.
