Awful reviews are starting to change our minds about booking ....

Put it this way, I stayed at the #2 Tripadvisor Hotel in Cancun The Royale Cancun (I think I spelled it right) for a week for my sisters wedding a couple years ago and yes its a 5 star resort but very boring, no bar open after 10pm except the lobby bar which had 4 people and the food was Awful, wasnt fresh, very limited variety and just not good. I went out to eat and paid at restaurants because of the bland food and at TTR ive never done that, foods always good, nice variety and amazing service

 

To sum it up : what are your expectations? When Blanco and I go on our hols, we have different expectations depending on what we have booked, and what price. We went to Sandals in Jamaica a couple of years ago, paid a lot of money honey, and had high hopes. Sadly disappointed. No waiter service at the pool? (TTR check!) or beach (TTR check - we love you Veronica!), food ok if you wanted steak or shrimp. Every night. We have also been cheapy cheapy to Tunisia (see Trish's comments above), and were highly delighted. We paid next to nothing, got fed, forced the crappy wine down, the sun shone for 2 weeks,and we were delighted!
TTR, best of both, good price, good quality, excellent atmosphere! = happy us.

we have been there last year for the first time ,,,,,and lioved it ,,,in fact we r now booking again,,,,its only good if u r able to mix with ppl and if u r the party type,,,,,only 1 way to know and that is judge it for urself ttyl

TTR Cancun has a 70% guest return rate -- that is considered the best of ALL RESORTS IN MEXICO, and pretty much the entire Caribbean as well. To me that says everything you need to know !

 

Q1: Is it true the buffets are nasty with no variety?

A1: Not even close. It isn't like going to, say, a Ryan's Steakhouse Buffet, with four to five hugely long buffet lines, but there are 3 good sized ones. The food is good quality, well made, and better than quite a bit of food you'd get at, say, a Golden Corral on a good day. Eating well, even at the buffets, is not a problem.

Q2: Are the pools really "freezing" cold? We live in Canada! We want to swim!

A2: If you are from Texas, like us, you might think the pools are cold. If you are from Canada, you'll be having a blast. The Canadians are Always int he pool at TTR. That, and Always drinking. They may be linked, I don't know.

Q3: Do they "force" you to tip several times?

A3: Define "several times?" We usually tip once per day as we're at the pool in the afternoon, then once when we hit the bar at night. Is that "several times" to your way of thinking?

Q4: How do you tip and when?

A4: See above. It's not a problem.

Q5: Do the rooms have a nasty smell?

A5: We had one room at TTR which had a slight smell of mold, but that is because of the climate (beachfront and humidity nearly year round). It is everywhere in Cancun and to be totally free from it is not reality. The rooms at TTR generally are very well kept and we've had no problems, and Stacia has asthma and a sensitive nose.

Q6: These are all problems I've read in recent bad reviews. About to book and I don't want to make a mistake. It's our first vacation in a few years!

A6: Book, you'll be fine. Some people "look" for something to put up a bad review because they got mad that so many people had a great time and they just ouldn't bring themselves to loosen up and have a similar great time.

Because of the AWESOME AMAZING vacationing people I`ve met at TTR. The adult atmosphere of over 21 is great. Many others have outlined the resort for you about the pros and cons, so there`s no reason to repeat them.

If you like meeting people, and have open minds, you can`t go wrong, book your vacation asap and enjoy a wondeful time.

 

Malcolm, Im sad I am going to miss you at TTR this year. Was such. A pleasure meeting you last April.
