Coffee is very subjective, and I find their coffee to be extremely bitter. That being said, I also add a lot of stevia, creamer, and flavored syrups to coffee because I don't really like it. However, at home I can add enough stuff to coffee to make it the way I like. No amount of sugar, creamer, powdered hot chocolate (that I brought), or anything else would take away the bitterness of the TTR coffee for me (and trust me, I tried super hard!). If you are a coffee wimp like me, and you need something to perk you up in the morning, you may want to think of alternatives to bring with you, like 5 hour energy and tea. If you drink black coffee regularly, and/or you love dark roast/extra bold coffee, you may find this coffee to not be so bad.

On our first visit there was a tropical storm and I can verify that in a bad rainstorm with a lot of wind, there is not much to do there, and they are not equipped very well to handle everyone in Nice Shoes if the weather is too bad to be outside. Thankfully, that is not something that happens too often, rain without wind doesn't shut the resort down outside, just very windy conditions with rain.

We have had great fun at TTR, even with some disappointments - so you do make the best of things. This forum is helpful for perspective and having reasonable expectations. Violated expectations can be brutal :aktion034:

    coffee

I was just there a few weeks ago, and normally I would agree on the bitter coffee, I take my own cappachino mix .. but on entering the buffet one of the waiters shouted hey sue guess what we got cappachino now.. and boy was it good..also they now do expresso at the pattyo boy and some of our gang said it was very good, also they have changed the house wine now it is imported from spain and the red is excellant, and the white a big improvment xx:icon_wink:

    pool

we were there in late November for our 5th trip and are returning in march for trip #6, our November trip was the first time we never went into the sexy pool, the water was just too cold, the 7 days we were there the weather was just fair , I asked the hotel staff why the sexy pool was not heated and they told me that the pool is heated off of the air conditioning system somehow and when the guest have the air turned off or down in the rooms then this affects the amount of heat getting to the pool, I have no Idea if this is true or they just fed me a story, but the pool was very cold and there was no more than a half dozen people in it at any given time during our stay, that being said ,we never expreienced that before and it was not enough to keep us from not going back.

I will definitely try the wine when I am back in July! I found the house wine to be undrinkable last summer. They do have wines you can order off of a list in the restaurants and they had a pretty decent selection.

Disclaimer: I'm a wine snob since that's what I do for a living. Rather than be disappointed, I just drink liquor all week. Problem solved!

Went on our first trip in Dec. Our thoughts...... We've stayed at all-inclusives from 3 star to 6 star.....

Food: Everyone has their own tastes. We thought breakfast was great. Lots of fresh fruit, yogurt and everything you could possibly want. We are big coffee drinkers and thought the coffee was good. Lunch at Margarita's or buffett was good. We thought Margarita's was really good for ordering off the menu during the day. Every meal always had a great salad bar. Dinner, well...... we were drunk and slept thru dinner 2 nights..oops :)....ate at Margaritas a couple - its alright...and Italian was AWESOME. You won't starve. Overall I would rate the food very good.

Tipping: We tipped and had great service. But it' your choice to do so. I never felt that the workers we're expecting a tip from me.

Rooms: We never had a funky smell in our room. Maybe it was time of year? We went in Dec and while the weather was beautiful it wasn't very humid so I think that helped. We loved our room.

Overall for the money it was excellent. We had the best time we have ever had at a resort - and we've been to alot of resorts. It was clean, staff were great, grounds were pretty, we couldn't really complain about anything.

We will return - hopefully first week of Dec again.

For the record I'm am pretty picky eater and normally eat very little on vacation. Cuba I lived off French fries and even Jamaica I didn't find I ate a big amount and the cruise we went on was a waste when it came to the food for me. However last year we went to Temptations for the first time and I will admit I was surprised at how much I ate and with the quality of the restaurants especially the steak and Italian. My partner loved the Japanese but she is sitting here saying they were all good. I am still craving the scrambled eggs from the morning Buffett which helped soak up the booze lol. The food was more then adequate and considering there was a group on 10 of us with no complaints ( all 10 who have different tastes and have stayed at different rated resorts over the years) I would say that's a pretty good endorsement.
But Temptations is about the people!!!! we met some great folks through April addicts as well as on our own while there and we look forward to meeting up with them again on our second trip back this April when we come back with some newbies.

We will be there Feb 21-26 for the 9th time!!!

Food is always good..The pool may be a little cool, but not freezing..

You are never forced to tip, but a dollar here or there makes a huge difference..Tip when you want to and they will remember you all week..

The rooms smell like ocean air, but when you are on vacation next to the water it happens..Open your balcony door and let the breeze blow through! TTR is an amazing resort and the staff is wounderful!

The hubby and I just made it back from a week at TTR and must say we probably won't be able to go anywhere else and be satisfied!! We are not big party people back home but probably because we have never been to a great party until now. We will definitely make TTR an every year thing at least! Still trying to figure out what happened! lol The memories are mind blowing!!

The wine is MUCH better than last year. I love red wine and like you, I found the wine last year undrinkable. In Nov/Dec is was vastly improved and certainly tasted like a mid-range bottle rather than the bargain basement stuff last year. Can't comment on the white because I don't drink white wine, just red.

Just to compare, my boss has just come back from an all-inclusive four star resort in Tunisia, which from how she was describing it sounded like she paid a lot more than we pay for TTR. She said the food was vile, wine undrinkable and no top shelf booze unless you paid extra for it. They didn't have any 'pay extra' options for food so had to stick with the stuff they were served. She likes vodka, but the vodka they served was a bottle hidden under the bar with no label, let alone a name brand! She said they felt quite ill after a few drinks so couldn't enjoy it. Also, their idea of a cocktail was to mix a spirit with orange soda from a bottle.

I just sit back and realise how lucky I am to have TTR and appreciate that for what we pay we're getting a great deal.
