I find most bad reviews are from what I call "vacation snobs"...people with unrealistic expectations. If you head to Temptation expecting a 5 star resort, you're probably not going to find what you are looking for. What you will find is a clean resort with nice accommodations, above average food with enough variety to even satisfy my wife, an incredible staff that works extremely hard to make sure everyone is taken care of, and a fun yet relaxing atmosphere created by some of the greatest people you'll ever meet. Unless you go through life with a stick firmly lodged up your backside you can't help but enjoy this place.

    bad reviews

If I was to believe every bad review I had ever read I wouldnt travel anywhere lol. I truly believe some people post bad reviews just to get a reaction. I like many other people come down to Temptation , cancun every year.. the staff, service, food and especially the vibe/atmosphere are the best I have found in 20 years of vacationing. The friends and lovely people that I met there are to numerous to count. Actually of the all the reviews posted about Temptation on any sites around 90% are good.. and as many have said before the resort as the largest amount of repeaters that I know of....

Been there four times in 14 months - food is good especially the specialty places. The people are what makes this place what is - friendly. Don't miss Steve's Boobs Cruise if there is one while you are there - Steve, Janet, Chino, Omar, and the crew do a great job and it will be the highlight of your trip. We did two in December. Believe me you won't regret going to TTR.

I think all the bad reviews come from people who didn't get laid! :icon_frown:

Before I start, I'll just say I absolutely LOVE Temptation, and I love these threads where everybody talks about how great it is. But it isn't for everybody, or for every person's every vacation, and that's OK!

That said, I think 2 types of people leave comments like those you're worried about. Type 1 is the type who is not satisfied on vacation with anything short of, or even different than, the ambiance, service and food of something like a Ritz. We love nice stuff, we eat world-class food frequently. And sometimes we want that on vacation... but if that's what we're after on a trip, we don't go to TTR. That said, we think the rooms at TTR are very nice, the grounds are truly beautiful, the service is outstanding, and in our opinions the food ranges from decent (buffet) to very good/excellent (restaurants). But all those things are bonuses - we take a TTR vacation not for any of those things, but for the unbelievable-until-you-experience-it friendliness of the people we meet and the fun, sexy, and as-wild-as-you-want-to-be atmosphere.

The second type of person who leaves comments like those, I suspect, are the people funcpl27 described - people who are shocked by the party they see at TTR, despite there being nearly infinite warning available to them online if they gave it a moment's effort. The party appalls them, and for the rest of their VACATION, so does everything else.

SO, if you're after a 5-star experience, seeking solitude and quiet, etc., that's OK! - but TTR is probably not the right choice for you. You can absolutely get peace and quiet at TTR when you want it, but that's not the main draw, and the beach is fine for relaxing but nothing spectacular. And you're here reading about the party, so I know you're not going to be a shocked, type-2 person.

I hope this helps, feel free to pm me with questions, and if you stick to your dates you posted, we'll see you in a few weeks!

Do the rooms have a nasty smell?

Our first time to TTR was last April and we are planning on going back again this April because of the great people we met. We agree with everyone on what has been said.
My wife has a huge problem with odors and we were concerned about this also. So we brought febreeze air freshener and scented candles with us (we got that idea from a thread on this great site). When we walked into our room there was a faint smell my wife could smell but I thought it was fine. We place the air freshener on the dresser and lit the candles and the rest was history. Best vacation we have ever been on.

you nailed it perfectly on the two kinds of complainers.

    1) the foodie/5 star/wine snob types who think they somehow appear better than others if they claim they are used to and expect more.....no matter what. These people ALWAYS complain about the food unless they are charged a sufficent amount for it that they can feel superior. Never mind the reality that they CHOSE a place which costs less.

    2) the ones who are offended by people who enjoy being sexual and sexy.....or getting drunk and partying. The thought of topless women flaunting it and others enjoying it is beyond their capacity to absorb. (usually religion is invoved in here somewhere)

honestly, almost every negative review I have read can be placed in one of these catergories and if these two groups decide to vacation elsewhere we are all the better for it. .
