We were at TTR for only one night, but we really liked the place !!!!!! Food was very good. We did tip the bartenders $5 each and got great service!!! There were quite a few people in the sexy pool so it couldn't have been that cold. Rooms were similar to a Comfort Inn or Comfort Suites in the US or Canada!!! Lots of Canadians
there. Only minor problem is too many young single men (European), but they behaved very well. Maybe, just more than we are used to seeing at other resorts.

The only reviews we ever believe are those on Expedia, Orbitz ,etc that have "verified traveler".

I am not a fussy eater at all but with that being said I am not impressed with the buffet food. It has went downhill, in my opinion but that is not a big deal for me. I always find something to eat and I am not on foodie vaca. I am there to lounge in the sun, half naked with good friends. I do not want to feel stuffed, bloated and want to take a nap. Now I find the specialty restaurants and Tex Mex a much better option.

We go in February and in January in the past. We are from the cold midwest and never have an issue getting in the pool in February.

No one forces you to tip. My hubby is a generous tipper. The service staff works so hard!! We leave daily tips for housekeeping and I get a beautiful towel arrangement of some sort with flower petals. I love it. We start off the day giving the pool bartenders $20 but that is our choice.

As for the smell....we have been to TTR 5 times and just booked out 6th but we have been all over Riviera Maya and Playa. The "smell" is everywhere. I noticed it my first trip and now when I first smell it when I get to the airport, it is a comforting fragrance, reminding of the fun in the sun I am about to have. My point is that it is not specific to Temptation - Cancun.

I am a verified traveler with Orbitz. I have to admit that I have not read the reviews for TTR in years. Some negative reviews may be a good thing for the repeaters as it may keep some rooms open so when we procrastinate and not book until 43 days prior, there are still rooms available.

We havnt been to TTR yet either but have booked and will be there feb 16 to 23. We looked all over at different resorts and different reviews and realise that people can always find a problem if they want too. Fact is that TTR has a 4/5 rating on trip advisor and thats pretty good considering all the haters out there. For all the reviews u see regarding the bad, look how many reviews there are from people that say they went there worried and had their mind changed. Those are the ones that give us confidance. You never see reviews from people saying they expected a party and fun and were dissappointed. And....what other resort has so many people that like it where there is virtually an entire site devoted to it?????if u book and end up going trying too see if all the bad reviews were tru you will probably be able to confirm it if u really try. Bt if u book and just plan on having a good time and not worry you probably wont notice anything. In the end, hopefully we will see u on the 17th....happy deciding:rainfro:

we go back every year....why would we do that if these reviews were true?

    1) No one is forced to tip......although you should know that small tips are the norm for service people at the hotel.

    2) There is a kind of musty smell that is common to Caribbean resorts. At first it is a bit off putting but it doesnt take long until it becomes a part of the experience. We dont consider it a problem.

    3) Ive never noticed the pools being freezing cold.

    4) we like the food

please remember that many of these negative reviews come from people who are offended by the topless party atmosphere. (Why they went to a place called Temptation in the first place is beyond me.)

If you are offended by the idea that toplessness and alchohol lead to a sexualized atmosphere you will be offended at Temptation. Here's the deal... guys will be looking at your boobs and enjoying it. Women don't have to pretend they don't like this and the men don't have to pretend they don't enjoy looking at topless women. A few drunk guys may even hit on you or you may end up getting or doing topless body shots. At night you will be able to wear the sexiest, most revealing clothes you want and not pretend you dont enjoy it. For many of us that is a big part of the fun. For others they are brainwashed to be offended by that. I really think that is a big reason for some of the prudish (self righteous) negative reviews

Ha. TripAdvisor reviews complaining about the toplessness are what attracted us to this place.

    We return in three days!

Is it true the buffets are nasty with no variety?
The buffets are great. Probably the best buffets we have ever had, but we choose to go to the other resturants for supper and save the buffets for breakfasts and lunch (although we have eaten for supper and it was great). You will find the food overall at Temptations to be better than a lot of 5* resorts. Make sure you try the specialty coffee at the Italian, or the Asian as they put on quite the show in preparing it.

Are the pools really "freezing" cold? We live in Canada! We want to swim!
We are from "Winterpeg" and we have only gone there in January and found the sexy pool to be even too hot at times. The temperature does fluctuate and the other pools are not heated, but you should have no issues in the sexy pool!

Do they "force" you to tip several times? How do you tip and when?
They never force you to tip, but my question would be why would you not tip? These people give you high end service and work their butts off for sometimes 18 hours and make way less money than we do. You tip in Canada for workers who likely do a lot less and make a lot more, so why wouldn't you want to thank them for taking care of you on your vacation?

We have been the restaurants in the evenings and seen the waiters working hard for a a table for the table to get up and leave with no tip. We think that is disgusting, but it is still your choice.

Do the rooms have a nasty smell?
This will be our third visit and we have never had an issue with the cleanliness, or smell of the rooms. The maid staff is excellent and when we have left them tips and were rewarded with more beer and water in the fridge. I am confident if you have an issue with a smell and reported it, they would be up to fix it immediately. On our first trip we had an issue with our shower handle and called and it was fixed immediately.

Like others have said there is the hot, humid smells of the Caribbean, but that is why we are there instead of Canada enjoying the dry heat from the constantly running furnace! LOL

Temptation IS one part Adult amusement park & at the same time one of the most relaxing environments I"ve experienced. We are headed down in April for our 3rd of what we hope are many more trips there.
My wife (Carrie) LOVES variety for variety"s sake so we closely compared as many reviews on other resorts as we could with our own Temptation (TTR) experiences/memories and TTR wins... Hands down!
We're 50ish, vacations are precious to us, coming from the frigid mid-western winter and the pool is not only warm enough, it's very welcoming. EVERYONE wearing at least a smile fits in...
Very Good Staff, Very Good Value, and as we Are Personal Fitness Trainers, Food quality & freshness are important to us... never a problem.
Great blend of Activity & Battery Recharge here, but the best part of TTR are the folks, hopefully like yourself, who attend.
:aetsch004:98 days and counting for us CAN'Tcome soon enuff !

Is it true the buffets are nasty with no variety?

Yes, especially the breakfast buffet, where a friendly young lady will make you fresh eggs to order any way you would like them, as well as a couple of ways you may never have had them. After making said eggs, she will smile and hand you your plate, and if you decide this is worth a tip (which she will not ask for), she will say "gracias."

Agree with all of the above. My next trip will be #13. I'd have stopped at 1 if I didn't like it!
