The BC will take you to the Island but you won’t see much of it. We highly recommend going on the Island via the Ferry which is walking distance from the hotel. Once there, rent a golf cart and tour the Island at tour own pace. There’s a turtle sanctuary, some Mayan archeological site at Punta Sur and plenty of beaches to see. Downtown Isla is also fun and playa Norte very nice! The nice part of this is that the ferry runs every hour and when you have had enough, you can just get back at the hotel.
Take the R1 or R2 bus to the Hotel Zone. It's less than $1USD per person to ride. The Hotel Zone is where you'll find Coco Bongos, Mandala, Senor Frogs, Rakata and a bunch of other fun places. You can also take the bus Downtown, but I didn't think that was as fun a trip. It's also nice to take a walk outside of the resort. Make a left as you exit the resort and just keep walking down the street. You'll come across the El Embarcadero tower and the port where the Pirate Ships dock. It's a nice walk, just keep an eye out for bikers along the path.
I agree about downtown we've been there as well . Not much fun . Maybe we will go towards the hotel zone and check that out. Thank you
We like to go "out" to the smaller nightclubs/bars just as a change of pace sometimes. Carlos & Charlie's, Senor Frog's, like that. Tops come off there on the regular after around 11:00 p.m. or so, so the vibe is good, especially if you "bring your own party" with you.
