Worked out great for us and it pays to be polite and patient. We told them we understood we were early, asked when we should check back and emphasized that we weren't in a rush and would appreciate a nice room. When we came back to check if the room was ready the lady asked us to hold on a moment while she called her manager and ended up giving us a free upgrade to a Temptation Suite.
Like others have said the express check in has done diddly squat for us... still wondering why they have that option :aktion061:. They will however will check you in and give you bands so you can enjoy a drink or even lunch while you're room is "getting ready"... and yes, a "tip" may get you an better room if one is available.
be careful, there was talk last year that if they are caught at the front desk taking tips for a better room that they get fired. I wouldn't want anyone fired just so I get a better room, who spends enough time in their room anyway?!
We know better but airfare was hugely cheaper for a Sunday arrival this coming November and we land at 930 am...D'OH!!! First night might be in a lounge chair if I'm not careful, lol.
We always throw swim suits, small sunscreen and sunglasses in our carry on so we're ready to go no matter what happens. It's great insurance for lost luggage and early check-ins.
