Paisley Blondie,13, of Blenheim will be busy painting after an overwhelming response to her "Paisley paints for a cure" project. A little Blenheim girl has her work cut out for her. And she's very happy about that. When Paisley Blondie decided to assist cancer survivors by selling her original paintings as a fundraiser, her mother Jen had a goal in mind of 100 pieces of art. But after her story appeared in the Monday edition of The Chatham Daily News, the family is re-thinking several hundred paintings will now be sold at $5 each. The challenge is to find enough 8x10 canvases so Paisley can start painting again. In just two weeks, the 13-year-old had sold 30 paintings, just by word of mouth. She had completed nearly 70 canvases. That was enough to clear out the supplies in a local dollar store, Jen said. Then her mother added a group link on her Facebook page and 120 people joined after reading Paisley's story by The Daily News. The quiet teen with an enduring smile has her own challenges. Paisley was born with cerebral palsy, has epilepsy and is legally blind. Drawing has been her lifelong pleasure, so when a family member was diagnosed with cancer, Paisley knew she had to do something to make a difference. "She's loving it," was Jen's response to Paisley's reaction to the interest in her artwork. "We'll do it as long as she likes and there is an interest," Jen said.
