Sunquest and Thomas Cook. Sunquest is going to refund us the one night.

Ha ha...yes, you're right...the primary reason I avoid them is price. The only time you get a deal with Air Canada is 1 week prior to departure!

We had a really negative experience with Sunwing as well so we try to stick with WestJet as much as possible. Won't bore you with the details but we were already in Cancun at TTR during the Swine Flu "outbreaks". Sunwing changed our flight out and their on-site rep at the resort did a very poor communicating updated flight times and shuttle arrangements and was not answering their "call me at anytime" phone number. As a result, Ginny and I spent 12 hours sleeping on chairs and the floor at the Cancun airport. Sunwing's customer followup was non-existent.

Bottom line: Avoid at all costs. There's a reason that they're a discount airline - they lack the structure and resources of a major airline.

We would have went sunning this year, but they didn't have a flight from Edmonton April 17th. So we checked with Westjet, got a great deal with direct flights.

air transat is no better. while they didnt screw up flights, they did gouge the bejesus out of us on the carry on. we bought a brand new carry on, which fit perfectly in every airlines carry on checker, except air transat.... it was a quarter of an inch too long.... dinged us for 115.00 for checked luggage.

then, in cancun, witht he exact same amount of stuff in each suitcase and the carry on, we were somehow over weight by 5 kilos..... dinged us for 75 bucks on the luggage , and 115 for the carry on.

others at the airport travelleing the same flight reported the same 5 kilos overweight.... strange huh?

never had an issue with air canada... other then the snnotty atitudes.

I called Sunwing directly and asked what was going on. The agent told me the flight we were booked on was cancelled. Now we have to wait until tomorrow to see if we can fly out on the 16th instead of the 17th. The Sunwing agent said that Redtag was given different days that we could pick from or cancel with a full refund. When I called redtag back, they claim they have to put in the request to Temptations to see if there is a room available on the 16th. So... we won't know any more until tomorrow. We have been so excited about this trip. Here's hoping everything gets straigthened out!!! Plus we booked the boob cruise for the 19th and want to make sure we are there for it! lol

Yikes, terrible travel stories. I would have expected trouble with Air Canada, but surprised about Thomas Cook, Redtag, and Sunwing. I hope all you guys can work things out and get to TTR okay. We're with Westjet on the 28th and don't know what we'd do if they changed our plans at the last minute.

Direct flight is the only way to go! Less time sitting in an airport, and more time at the sexy pool.
