The important thing is that part about changing planes and doing the duty free thing. Since you have to clear security again after rechecking your checked baggage it is not supposed to be possible to do it this way. So you have to pack it in your checked baggage. Bubble wrap can be bought here or you can wrap it carefully in dirty clothes. I like to sort of make a package of the booze in a plastic bag.

Even if you leave Cancun and fly non stop to your destination it can save you a bundle by buying your booze at Walmart or across the street at La Europea. I saw a bottle of Corralejo tequila for I think it was $375 pesos at the Duty Free shop and you can get it the WM or LE in the $180's.

Don't tell anyone but you can get some very good Cuban rum at La Europea buy of course you cannot bring it into the US, legally anyway.

Oh yeah. I do not believe that the airlines have differing policies on this issue. TSA is the rule maker and the airlines have to follow their policies. If you question an airline on what you can and cannot bring on board most will refer you to the TSA website.

Europa, across the street from WalMart is a Very well stocked store, and the ONLY reasonable place we could buy Captain Morgan.
