We definitely know what you mean! It's not the same place and we almost feel sorry for the first timers now who have no idea what they missed. But we've planned a few trips with other TTR peeps, and that's been fun. The thing the TTR management people never seem to understand is that it's not the building that makes TTR what it is (or was), but instead it's the people. And in that respect, buying an older resort and converting it would work very well. With as many family resorts as there are in Cancun all fighting for the same cash, some of them have to notice the model of TTR, which usually has very high occupancy. Rather than be a "me-to" family resort fighting for bottom rates and low occupancy, it would seem at least one would take on the TTR model of topless fun. And why not? They can likely charge more than they get now, and they're ALL on a better beach. Our group really doesn't ask much. Give us a clean room, some music, decent food, and we'll take care of the rest. Charge a reasonable price, offer some sexy fun, and they would stay fully booked.

We have considered a second option that is entirely possible today, and that is to rent a very large VRBO and create our own fun spot in the Cancun area. Most have pools, and the price gets very cheap with enough guests. That is likely our next move. Nobody really needs a DJ anymore with a couple speakers and a phone playlist, and if we really felt like splurging we could even hire a bartender and Saby to help out! There would no doubt be some other relaxed rules as well.

Just our thoughts.... John and Stephanie

Do you remember in the 2012-2018 era when it seemed like at least annually, a local Hotel Zone resort would announce that they were going to transition to a new sexy atmosphere with topless areas and wild parties. Some even hired players away from Temptation and announced that they were going to be like TTR, but better and sexier!

They all failed because the TTR crowd was too loyal. We wanted to stay with the one that brought us to the dance. I don't think any of them made it more than a year.

What I find very interesting is the fact that now that Temptation has not been loyal to the crowd that brought THEM to the dance, where are all of those hoteliers who wanted us back then? It seems that now would be a great time to try again!

@Steve, is there more to this than meets the eye?

We haven’t been to TTR in the past 10 years, please tell us what has changed so much that regulars are not coming back. We are scheduled for 7 days in November and December … getting a little nervous. Thanks

I think you'll find that it's still fun, especially if you can find some of the old crowd to hang with, but the posers, pretenders, social media influencer wannabees and the like are all over. It's more like Vegas that Cancun, and there's a reason we seldom go to Vegas.

You'll find that the resort is renovated. It's cleaner, sleeker and shiny. The rooms have these newer closets that have no knobs, so you'll be pushing each one to figure out which door is the closet you want. The rooms also have touchpads on the walls to control the lights, curtain and night lights. I don't think we ever fully figured out how those work.

The pool is great; home to the sexy action. In the past, it was "put your cameras/phones away and do not take photos, especially if other guests will be in the shot" Now it seems they turn a blind eye and everyone has their cameraphones out for snaps, posts, tweets, facebook live, etc. There's a good chance you'll be in the background of someone's snapchat.

Also, if you are not a Premier member, there will be fewer places to sit at the pool, beach and disco. Bash has replaced PattyO's. Bash has an elevated dance stage and I'm always afraid someone will fall off. There are still late-night hamburgers and other kinds of food.

It's still a fun, sexy place. While I don't think it's as fun as pre-Renovation, I think it's still a great place to have fun and let loose.

During the year when we are waiting for our annual trip (and even more frequently as we get close) I try to watch every Temptation YouTube video I can to build the fun anticipation.

Probably 45 out of the most recent 50 videos reviewing Temptation, feature visitors that have no idea what the resort is about or even come off as friendly. Most reviews are from wannabe influencers that still cant get over the fact that they saw "boobies" and nervously giggle discussing "possible swingers in the pool."

And THIS is what I think has led to the last few years of new visitors who pay for cabanas, hookahs, alcohol and take pics all day long while never even getting in the pool because their outfit will get wet.

Now, wife and I will usually say hi to everyone regardless and make it our own party, but it is definitely harder to do at times these days. Still love it...but it's definitely more "Vegas"(and we live in Vegas lol).

Spot-on with the Vegas comparison. It certainly feels like it's catering to a different crowd these days. The influencer crowd. Photographs for social media likes are more important than living the experience. That brings with it the 'toned down' atmosphere as I'd call it. Less random acts of fun happening. I don't come back with crazy funny stories so much these days. You'll find the odd instance of the old atmosphere here or there. For example, every trip I still manage to make a new friend or two when I'm day-drunk at the pool lol. But nowhere near how it used to be.

The upsell is also nuts now, and 'resort credits' are king. Don't accumulate credits on your contract? Then you'll be fighting for a seat at Bash, a lounger next to the pool etc. This is their own currency so they make the rules, meaning if you don't have credits, the equivalent in dollars is stupidly high. Even the gift shop stuff is crazy high price now (way more than it used to be) because it's all linked to those credits they're handing out with contracts.

I'm not saying everything was perfect before. It's always been premier members got preference, so nothing new for non-members. The premier-only seating areas, premier-only menu and drinks etc. Hell I remember the premier-only hot tub on top of the toilets! Having a membership doesn't guarantee the basic stuff anymore though. You ask for a specific drink "that's pay only now" or "we can't serve any more of this today". Want to sit at a table or the back seating at Bash "you need to reserve that table with resort credits". HALF the seating around the pool is now gone in favour of the big ugly beds, lo and behold "oh you need to pay to reserve that". Being a member is worth half what it used to be.

Can't deny the new build is much better than the old place, but at what cost? About my only complaint with the new build...that damn dance floor at Bash! Like MANY others, it feels like a death trap to me. It's also really not needed in my opinion. It's a huge obstacle and not worth the elevated view for the 40-minute show each night. Oh and why have a jacuzzi pool up there if nobody is allowed to use it at night? Such a waste!

I think this forum provides a lot of information that would not be available on FB, YouTube, and other sites. Here one can just read through a lot of different people's experiences. Some of us like to research before going on a new venture and this forum provides a lot of data. I know forums in some way are taken away by other Fb and other sites but the interaction of experience is different. I have a Jeep Wrangler and I am always looking at the Jeep's forums for advice or new stuff. In fact, the reason am here is because in decemember it will be my first trip to Temptation and I wanted to understand the dynamics.
