If you want to dive, hook up with Boris by the volleyball pool. I did a couple of dives with him last year and they were very nice. It is all pretty low key and uncomplicated. Everything is prepared and the boat leaves from the dock by the hotel. We swam beside sea turtles etc. We will be going back in Feb and I plan on diving again. We might look into exploring some diving around Isla Mujeres. The snorkling trip on the catamarans is pretty lame. You are in a huge group, not much to see and they rush you in and out of the water on a time schedule. Great boat ride, "super"great party...lame snorkling but at least it's fun to get in the water to cool off. If you do take a cat trip... try the spinaker sailing.
We've also done Boris' Fun Dive, was a great time and he's a blast to go with. Our trip in Jan 09 was the first time either of us had been on a dive. Will be doing it again next trip. When you walk by all the nice boats tied to the dock, just ignore them. You won't be riding in one of those. When you see a hulk with a couple outboards hanging off the back, that's your ride. As long as the water is smooth, it won't be a problem. Well, that and if you don't get the total dumbass driver that forgets to start one of the engines. The 100hp markings on the engines also must be really small horses. Once out at the dive site just relax and have a good time.

I think you described it pretty well yourself! Despite "feeding the fish" on the way back from the dive, I'd still do it again.
Boris is great! I don't dive but the hubby does, he always makes us feel like family when we go, even if the hubby doesnt drive when we are there! Terry
driving means being responsible for something other than myself,and anything that i need to be responsible for i don't do i'm on vacation (except the hobie cats)haven't figured out how to put a cup holder on the hobies yet
I know when the other half dives, the night before he takes drinking easy and he watches what he eats that night and the next day. As far as the hobie cat goes bring a capped container. Terry
