Last month while removing forms from the concrete I witness a worker lose control of a huge section of plywood and 2x4,s. Directly underneath were 2 guest just standing there 30 feet below ( near sports pool washroom). Would have been instant death. Be careful around the sites,, as Trish says , their rules are a lot less strict then ours. The mesh they had would have been little use to the heavy form . I also witnessed the constant leering and finger pointing from the workers,,, can you blame them ,lol ?
Yes they certainly have different rules for construction safety, and as far as I can tell, it's not much of a concern. Hard hats are completely optional, and I only saw one for the week. I guess if you lose a worker or two you just get another. On the other hand, the plumbing and electrical work was very well done. It was installed very well and routing for all lines, insulation over the pipes, and fastening to rails was excellent. The guys doing the masonary and block work were very skilled as well, but they were surprised to see a guy in nothing but a swimsuit and towel climb up there with them. They laughed a bit but the towel is where I had my camera. One thing I have noticed about construction in Mexico is they put a lot more guys on a project and rely more on wheel barrows, shovels, and buckets than cranes and heavy equipment. The overall construction might not be that bad or have much more noise than it does now. I would definitely take care not to pull up a chair underneath any of it though. Tourists are just as expendable as construction workers, and if somebody gets a little clumsy with a tool up above, well, that's the problem of the guy down below. NOTE: I just put a folder under our name with several construction pics from above. Feel free to check them out.
I agree that the rooms don't look temporary at all. That was my thought when watching them at the end of October. However at the speed they are going it looks like they will be doing about 9 rooms a year? I wouldn't call that much of an expansion.
Tina and i have been away from TTR for a couple of years and were beginning to plan a return for next April/may. starting to think about delaying our return for another year. We will be watching these posts and want to thank everyone for their for their input and updates.
was there during the rooftop construction , does not affect the play on the ground. Noise is during the day, and drowned out by music. Not saying it will not vamp up ,, but not enuf to post pone , with what is happening there now
These posts are making me really nervous for our upcoming New Years trip...we are some of the few who love the quiet pool in the afternoons and it sounds like it won't be as relaxing as our last few trips. But more importantly this talk of the construction workers being unsafe is making me really nervous
Its one area where the walkway goes under, just don't stand under it,, they must be close to finish by now on those 3 rooms any way. they were jack hammering year a go too , they do that whenever the change the tiles in the existing rooms. Don't get me wrong ,, I,ll be the first to jump shit if they bring cranes in and close the pool
Was there in Nov. According to Premiere reps (Ayeisha)(sp?), construction will be done in "blocks" starting summer 2016, starting in the 1000 block, etc. Also, New nightclub built on top of Buffet, with Patty'O becoming a "piano" type bar. Remodel buffet. Resort will not be closed down. Dont shoot me, Im just the messenger. True or not? Who knows.
