My wife and I are heading back to the GP March 20th. We haven’t bend since January 2015. Has there been any change? Does anyone know if Eric still works the Guest Services desk? what excursions would everyone recommended? We are open for anything.
My wife and I were there for the week after this past Thanksgiving. Our 5th year in a row. We had a great time. To answer your questions: No, we did not see Eric and actually now that I think about it, He was not there in October 2016 when we were there either. Changes from 2015: the food is much better. Everyone is much better about handling problems. Carlos, the bartender at the lobby bar, overheard us talking about a less than disirable meal at the Old Barn. The next day at breakfast one of the managers brought the chef out to apologize and offered us anything to make up for the bad meal. We basically shook it off. Nothing is perfect, and we realize that fact. Honestly, every other meal we had was delicious. The one restaurant that had a dress code, Shanghi-La, had much better food than when we were there in 2016. So, my opinion only, it is really a much better hotel than it was in previous years. Also, we have taken the ferry over to Isla Mujeres the last three years. We highly recommend it. Lots to see.
The wife and I were there in June (2016). Did not like it at all. Bartenders were the best part, as was the beach. But we would NEVER go back.
