I love this part of the column: However, can anyone of us face our Service members today after hearing President Bush and justify them giving their life fighting in Iraq? are you kidding me? they are giving their life for our county, not because they have to, but because they want to. I have said it once and ill say it til I die, there is NO DRAFT!!!! American soldiers CHOOSE to be ther fighting for our country and our freedoms. Bush is NOT to blame for their choosing to join the military. There has not been a draft since the 70's....end of story.... This is why I love liberals.....they will believe anything the media tells them, and not look into the facts for themselves.....cnn says it, its must be true.
>American soldiers CHOOSE to be ther fighting for our country and our freedoms. I guess you're missing the point that the invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with protecting your country or your freedoms. If it is SO IMPORTANT, and some soldiers are going on their 4th tour, why the hell haven't YOU joined up?
Actually, I have signed up to join the military, but since I have asthma, I cannot join......If it were up to me, I'd be over in Iraq with my best friend right now fighting for my country
Actually, you can get a thing known as a recruiting waiver for medical conditions like asthma. They gave out 5064 medical waivers in 2005 for asthma, flat feet, bad hearing. So they will take you. So you'd better head back down to the recruiting office. Let us know how you get on!
How much until this fer is out? I will vote for Obama not Clinton or I will vote for Rudy. Cannot wait until his term is over so we do not have to listen to the same bs over and over. Say we are they for oil and take it and make no excuses and I will be a proud american again.
OK… the point in Iraq that lots of people seem to miss is that the war there is not about just Iraq. It is not about Sadam. It is not about oil. It is about stopping radical Islam. Period. We can stop it where it is starting or we can stop it in our own streets or we can lose and die. You’ve seen the chants about “Death to America” over and over. But it’s not specifically about American. It’s about what America represents. If it were just about America, then why does Radical Islam attack in Indonesia? In no way can anybody in their right mind claim that Indonesia is a puppet of the US. But they do have a Christian population. So they become a target. Same with the rest of the countries around the world. Is Russian a puppet of the US? Then why are they being attacked by Radical Islam if it’s just about US Imperialism? You seem to put so much stock in Michael Moore’s movie. Well here’s one you should see too. http://www.obsessionthemovie.com/12min.htm You’ve asked why people support Bush in light of all his “failings”. The answer is that he gets it and is doing something about it. Is he doing everything exactly right? Hell no. But he is fighting for our survival and that goes a long way for me. So why should the US be leading the way in Iraq? Because we can. Who else can rally the world to save it? What would have happen in WWI and WWII if the US had said, “Nope, not my problem, they haven’t attacked our shores yet.” By the time they attacked our shores, we would have been the only country left and we would have lost. (And before you look to point out that Japan did attack our shores before we engaged them, we were already fighting in Africa and supporting Europe before then.) Had we not begun fighting before our shores were invaded, they would be speaking Japanese in New Zealand now. The fact that we are having this discussion at all is because the US has always defended people’s rights even if those attacking their rights had not directly engaged the US. Why install a democracy in Iraq? So that people in the Middle East have an example of a country that is not run by Dictators, Kings, or Radical Religious Leaders. To show that there is an alternative. But alas some of you are so set in your ways of closed minded criticism that none of this will even give you a second thought. It reminds be of a story a black comedian once told. When asked who he would want a brain or heart transplant from he responded that he would want one from a bigot. “For that would be a brain or a heart that had never been used.” Bigots come in many shapes, colors and mindsets. If there was ONE country in the Midlle East where radical islam was firmly under control, it was Iraq. Saddam did not like radicals, most of them left Iraq because they were in danger. After Saddam was "toppled", they all flooded back in via the borders that Rumsfeld failed to secure. Malaki, who Bush is pinning all his hopes on, is an ally of Iran, being a Shiite. Occupying Iraq and dismantling it's security structure was the gravest mistake ever by a US president. It has emboldened islamic radicals and will take decades to corect the problem. A hearty thanks to all you 2nd time Bush voters! [/sarcasm] Thankfully, all but the hardcore brainwashed few realise how big of a mistake they made and his popularity continues to plunge and the fruitcake division of the GoP (whats left of them after their huge bitchslapping in the 2006 election) are going down with the Presidential ship.
